The phrasing here is a little awkward, since you would never say "[I] wanted paying attention to [Kabuto's backers]", and the grammatical structure should be preserved through the phrase movement. It might be better to say "Kabuto's backers weren't the sort anyone wanted the attention of—not even a little," though I can see a couple of other ways it could be changed. Or you could just leave it as-is, it's not as if it's a huge issue.
