Never above criticism

First off, there's a few people I need to get back to like Scott from the UK in regards to a missing issue 1 shipment. One person who got a double sleep variant shipment and one more alibi shipment for a guy who someone got missed and he shouldn't have been. Apologies.

If you don't know; when it comes to the shipping and distribution I'm the belly button which sucks especially when I need to catch up on work (my normal 9-5) and my upcoming Tech School in January. Apologies, running around like a chicken with my head cut-off...but there will hopefully be a fix coming for all this here soon.

Most of your sleep variants (apologies for not getting those tracking numbers out I got slammed hard coming back to work.) Should have already been delivered. So please check your mailboxes.

Battle Buddies and Muffin Bears,
Waiting on updating shipping pricing so Issue 3 should *God willing* Hit your mailboxes before mid January.

For Battle Buddies its a single shipment.
Muffin Bears its a double shipment.
Operators should also look to receiving a double shipment in January too. The intent is to start shipping out Trade Paperbacks In February. These are heavy girls and so just be aware of that.
Muffin Bear's since ya'll kinda got screwed over during the issue 2 fulfillment, I'll be planning on giving you a bonus shipment when I can.

Now, for the video above. The presenter brings up a couple of good points from the outside looking in. I've made some decisions that, if you're not in the headshed, are probably considered mental. Truth of the matter is, we've had to make some pretty unconventional decisions in order to ensure this book is a success. It's been a learning process. Especially in regards to shipping, I'm doing my damnedest (with what little time I have.) To improve with Gemini mailers coming out at a minimum. We also have a better shipping and returns policy, etc...
So while we've done alot of improving, we're not above criticism. So again I'll say this. If anyone feels they're not getting what they've paid for, or that they're being scammed in anyway, reach out to us and let us know and we'll either try our best to rectify the problem or refund you your money.
We actually give a shit. I haven't been able to respond to all of the DMs today, but I've read them and I know I'm behind but I see you Mort, you're owed a shipment you shouldn't have been missed. Anyway, below you can read Trent's response to the video above.

Also note; that this guy did not differentiate between the retail version (which we have no problems with people reselling.) and the Patreon versions which aren't intended to be for the regular market.

So again if you feel that you're getting fucked over. Reach out to us.
For those that still believe in us and are sticking it out, we're gonna hook you up with something good at the end of the run.

Here's our response to the poster:

First off, if anyone has bought the work from us directly and feels they’ve been scammed or haven’t received what they believed they should have received, reach out to us so we can give you a refund and rectify the situation.  Second; Since starting this book fans have expected us to act as though we have the backing and budget of Marvel or DC. Truth of the matter is that we don’t, yet we’ve had to enact some pretty unconventional methods in order to give our fans what they wanted. Third; you’re missing some very key facts like, this book was never designed or intended to become a physical book…it just ended up that way due to demand. Shipping and printing COST. And at the time no one had the $2,000 available to place in a print order. So we found a VERY low cost solution with a printer that allowed us to print what we needed and also eliminate the need to warehouse unshipped copies of the work.  So yeah we went print on demand. Also what this guy fails to mention, is that there are two versions of the work that’s out. Censored (retail) and Uncensored. This is VERY important to distinguish between the two version because 1) The Censored Version is controlled by AP and we honestly have no control over how many gets printed. And 2) The UNCENSORED versions were supposed to be Patreon exclusives only. Part of our rules upon joining (you can look at the overview) was that no one leak anything outside of Patreon. This included the Uncensored physical books. So in order to maintain control of the Patreon versions of the book we took some temporary actions in order to enforce our rules there. THIS is what people are having an issue with. That they can’t take the Uncensored books and flip them for $400-500 after we finish fulfilment. Had people just waited until after the run was complete there wouldn’t be an issue.  So yeah, the books on ebay? If you bought those you did get scammed, but it wasn’t from us.

So the gripe these folks have is that you are making it difficult for individuals that want to treat your comic as investment for profit or for those that advise others on how to profit via establishing a resell value based on how many books are produced. At some point in the video the host stated that this book would not be success without this specific consumer base which is just puffery. Your book would be a success regardless because it's a good book. I commend you for entertaining their conversation. This book is clearly not being published, marketing or targeting folks that are just looking to resell. If you were on that you'd be looking to do incentive ratio variants and exclusive comic shop variants with published print runs or similar sales/marketing tactics with inflated prices for those that like to snap up low print run books and profit once they sell out. The fact that you gave a member of the military ~$50 out your pocket when you heard that they paid an inflated price for you book should have solidified your point and your objective. You don't owe speculators or individuals looking to set an aftermarket value anything and the use of the words rare or exclusive don't necessarily translate to monetary value when used to describe your variants. This is your first crack at printed comics and the printed version wasn't the prime objective when you started out. You stated that is project is a labor of love and the printed version is something that you offered because your supporters/readers asked for it. There are plenty of other hot books for people to talk about and put on their radar for post purchasing sales. POD is not causing anyone to lose money. I think the conversation was brought to your attention because they knew that you would participate in it and you're not above hearing what consumers have to say regardless of their intent. I don't think a Marvel, DC or Image rep would entertain it. Some of the most valuable books that I own were purchased because I was interested in and reading the book and it happened to fly under the radar or just blew up at some point opposed to some tactical investment purchase plan. This book is something that you and your team work on outside of your regular jobs and life. On top of that you do a great job with all the facets and working out the kinks as they come up. Kudos for valuing supporter inclusion in this project. Keep up the good work.

Mort khatib

Hey brother, still haven't received anything in little old New Zealand, any idea of the eta on us?

Majin Dozer

This is the truest statement I've ever heard. I will take the time to pat myself on the back for the multitude of changes we were able to brainstorm and deploy in such a short period.

I run two small businesses. I was in the Army way back in the day. I know what it is like to try to cram 30 hours of work into a 24 hour day. I also understand what it is like to run on a super tight budget. The most important thing I get is that sometimes customers don't always believe that you really are working for them until they get the product in their hand. It is tough but hang in there. I'm not going anywhere.

Chris Crossont

OK, thanks for the info.

Miguel Aguilar

I want to make sure issue 3 is shipped out cleanly before i go back to that. Newer issue take priority over smaller ones.

RAGS
