'Sword Fight' in between commissions! I've even got proof! A teaser!

“Don’t move. Don’t make a sound. Don’t even breathe.” The blonde right next to Ruby on the bed whispered fearfully, her tone all that was needed to have Ruby listen as it plucked the strings of her childhood. “This is life or death.”

It was the same tone she’d heard before she’d been pushed into the basement or a shelter when a horde of Grimm was nearby. The same tone that her Dad had when it involved them staying inside during the monsoon season on Patch. The same tone Yang had when Qrow found out that someone had taken a taste of his favorite beer and let it go flat.

“We’re in some serious trouble, and I need you to listen to me, okay?”

Whenever someone used that tone she listened. Life or Death was serious business when someone talked like that… Which is why the only part of her body that was moving at this point were her eyes. It was a skill, one that the other girl had mastered just as well as she had. Ruby would have applauded but, you know...gotta keep still.

“Why?” Ruby whispered loudly in return, her lips nearly unmoving as she did. “What’s happening? Are we under attack?”

“Worse.” The blonde’s eyes started flicking to the side. Repeatedly. Enough for Ruby to get that they weren’t the only ones in the room but little else… Ruby didn’t find that at all reassuring. “Is the bunny rabbit yours?”

“What?” Ruby blanked out. And then, she remembered exactly what she’d done last night and her face lit up like a searchlight. She’d think she was dreaming, if it wasn’t for the fact that she was, without a doubt, still bloated. It was a very distinctive, wet feeling. “O-oh… Uh… Yes? She’s kind of my fian—”

“That’s nice, but I don’t really care right now.” The other girl interrupted with a glare. “Thanks for claiming ownership.”

Ruby gave her a glare back. Rude!

“What’s important is that, the last thing I remember before you two popped into my room while I was trying to sleep off—”

Ruby’s glare disappeared like the morning mist. Okay, yeah. That might have been kind of more rude. Maybe. She hadn’t wanted to be here, but she was interrupting someone’s sleep… This was complicated.

the exhaustion I was feeling after my best friend just got finished stuffing my… Ah” The blonde’s face went completely flat. “... Never mind that. It’s not important.” Then joined Ruby’s in terms of color. “What is important is that if you don’t call her off, right now, she’s probably going to die… Or we are. I’m not sure.”

“What!?” Ruby said loudly. In a whisper. A loud whisper… Either way, she was starting to panic. “Why!?” She didn’t want anyone to die!

“Either my friend—”

Ruby wondered why the other girl put such emphasis on the word ‘friend’. She got it. They were friends. Stop. The possibility of death was more important!

“—is going to kill your friend in a very messy and quick battle over territory—”

Ruby gasped...it might have been a little lackluster, but, at this point, she wasn’t really feeling the danger here. The other girl was obviously overreacting. It wasn’t like they were talking about animals or anything. Just a Faunus in heat and… Oh, shoot. Was that what it was? Was her friend like Velvet?

If so...then yeah. They had something to worry about. A lot to worry about, actually...

“—or they’re going to,” the blonde shivered, “compete.” Her eyes then went a little...wild. Ruby began to feel uncomfortable. “I can’t go through that again. I can’t. I need Plan B right now and I already have to replace the carpet.” Then her eyes snapped back into focus and Ruby couldn’t help but cower. Motionlessly. “Do something!

And so Ruby did. Slowly. Very slowly… She inched her head downwards, closer to her chest so that she could assess the situation for herself. Just like she’d been trained, both as a huntress and a frontier child...and she eventually stopped, confused.

She had no idea what she was looking at. Not really. Just that she was looking at...something.

She was watching two girls, circling each other. Squaring off and posing at what seemed to be random times as visible distortions appeared in the air while Velvet’s Aura flared and sparked in response… Also, yes. Her suspicions were correct. The other girl was, extremely visibly, a great deal like Velvet...with some subtle differences. She was taller for one...more muscled and...thicker if that made sense. Maybe an inch shorter but, at the sizes they were playing with, that didn’t mean much.

They were still talking about deadly weapons at this point.

She also looked angry. Weiss angry. When she was truly angry she got cold and silent. Surrounded by an almost tangible aura—not to be confused with the light of her soul, thank god—of anger and disdain. The new girl pulled it off like she was born to it, a Queen amongst the rabble...not that Velvet seemed to notice as she strutted about, darting in and out in an attempt to get the taller brunette to flinch or give… Only to get nothing at all except for a backhand in return, a near miss that whiffed in the air like one of Yang’s punches...and then it started again. Like a weird and oddly feminine/masculine cycle of domination.

If this was a social thing for Velvet’s gender...it went so far over Ruby’s head it was probably going to hit the shattered moon any moment now.

“What do I do!?” Ruby asked in a quiet panic.

“I don’t fucking know! You’re the Brute here! I’m just a Thinker who can’t think for shit right now!”

“I—I’m not a brute! I’m a Huntress! A hero! You…you stupid... Civilian!”

The other two girls, stuck in their own private and silent argument went still. Looked into each other’s eyes without blinking as they started staring each other down. Nothing happened that Ruby could see. They just...stood there. Unmoving. She wasn’t even sure they were breathing. It was unbelievably tense.

“Civilian? Civilian!? That’s classist, you little shit! What even is a Huntress anyway and why should I care?!”

Ruby gasped. Such ignorance! Also, this wasn’t the time!

Velvet’s ears began twitching like crazy. Like giant antenna, bouncing excitedly to-and-fro as her counterpart moved her fingers in time to some song no one but they could hear. The unknown girl’s brow furrowed. Velvet’s nose twitched. The distortions increased in number and size for a moment as Velvet crouched, looking as if she were about to jump into a fight...but then they quickly relaxed and backed away. Nods were exchanged.

They’d come to an accord! Somehow! No one had to die/get horribly maimed today!

“I’ve always wondered how I’d look like as a blonde.” Velvet turned away from the other brunette with a shrug to face Lisa. Her grin turned up into a snarl, her voice into a growl. “I guess that seeing it in my kids is close enough.”

The blonde squeaked.

The taller of the two, in response, sniffed and flipped her hair back. “I was about to say the same about your friend’s hair.” Her voice was perfectly smooth, just like her smile as she looked Ruby over. A graceful stalking that had Ruby feeling...shamefully receptive, considering the events of last night. “And I do like those eyes. Very exotic.”

Ruby pulled the blanket up to her nose and started to not so quietly freak out.
