Alternate Warlock Class v3.0.0

Happy Halloween! 

I’ve got an update for the Spookiest class in 5e - my Alternate Warlock! This time around was mostly closing loopholes in text and rewriting things so mechanics are clearer, but there have been a few BIG changes to the class (see below).

ALTERNATE WARLOCK CLASS v3.0.0

Pact Modifier:
We’re trying this one out to see how it goes! You can now PICK which ability score to use for your Pact - Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma. One of my goals with this class was to make it more then “multi class bait”, but I think that making a Pact with an Eldritch Entity should be available to any class, not just those with a certain ability score.

Pact Focus (Blade/Familiar/Tome):
These have all had small QoL changes. Blade now deals your Eldritch Blast damage, Familiar has been rewritten for clarity, and Tome now grants you a flexible Eldritch Invocation.

Otherworldly Patrons:
A lot of small, but important changes here. The big one that has affected them all is you can no longer swap out your Patron Magic spells. Most Patrons will play almost exactly the same, but the Undying has seen a large rework to revolve around the Frightened Condition.

Eldritch Invocations:
Lots of small changes here. Armor of Shadows is now an improved version of Mage Armor, all of the forced movement Eldritch Blast options have been reworded to work better, and Enspelled Blade (formerly known as Eldritch Smite) has been reworked.

Elder Arcanum:
Occult Scholar is much more flexible, and the Eldritch Blade options have been reworked around my “half-caster Gish” design, with its capstone option (Awakened Blade) being reworked with a burst “Destructive Wave” option.

Patron-Exclusive Options:
I've updated the Patreon-exclusive options for my Alternate Warlock Class. The Legendary Hero Otherworldly Patron (updated), Eldritch Warrior Invocations (NEW), and Squire Familiar Eldritch Familiar (NEW). Check the new options out here!

Alternate Warlock Class

• Eldritch Invocations // Split this feature up into headings so its easier to grok.

• Eldrtich Spellcasting // You can now pick INT/WIS/CHA as your spellcasting ability for the Warlock (trying this one out - no guarantees it stays around). All mentions of INT modifier are now “Pact modifier”.

• Otherworldly Patron // Patron Magic // Removed the ability to swap out spells.

• Pact Focus // Eldritch Blade // Now deals damage of your Eldritch Blast type.

• Pact Focus // Eldritch Familiar // Rewritten for clarity.

• Pact Focus // Eldrtich Tome // Now Grants you a floating Invocation.

Ancient Wyrm

• Draconic Spark // Rewritten for clarity

• Draconic Blast // NEW 6th level feature - breath weapon Eldritch Blast!

• Elemental Potency // Combined with Draconic Blast.

• Regal Presence // Reworked around the Beguiling Influence Invocation.

• Ancient Blast // NEW 14th level enhancement for the breath weapon.

The Fiend

• Dark Vitality // Renamed (Dark Blessing). Can use this as a reaction when a creature dies within 10 feet of you (no more kill stealing).

The GOO

• Mental Lance // Limited this effect to once per turn.

• Thought Shield // Reworked second part to deal damage.

Eldritch Invocations

• Armor of Shadows // AC now equals 13 + your Pact modifier.

• Beguiling Influence // Reworked in light of the new floating Pact modifier.

• Infernal Sight // Renamed (Devil’s Sight).

• Cloak of Decay // Removed concentration, switched to piercing damage.

• Grasp of Hadar // Reworded.

• Lance of Lethargy // Now a 1/turn halving of speed.

• Repelling Blast // Reworded.

• Thief of Five Fates // Now requires your concentration.

• Tome of Ancient Secrets // Rewritten.

• Thirsting Blade // Reworked to be in-line with my half-caster Extra Attack.

• Tomb of Frost // Rewritten (now it has an Armor Class and actually works RAW)!

• Vitality of the Ageless // Renamed (Gift of the Ever-Living Ones).

• Enspelled Blade // Renamed (Eldritch Smite). Reworked.

• Favored Servant // Renamed (Occult Servant). Can learn multiple times.

• Whispers of the Grave // Moved down to 7th level.

Spell List

• Spells // Removed from doc, added link to the laserllama Spell Compendium.

• Added // Tempestuous Blade (Cantrip), Jump (1st), Mystic Spear (2nd), Spectral Passage (3rd), Accursed Touch (4th)

Eldritch Familiars

• Aberrant // You now add PB to the damage of Aberrant Whispers.

Deep One

• Deep Magic // Torrent replaced Thunderwave.

• Grasp of the Deep // Rewritten for clarity.

• Oceanic Grasp // Now halves the creature’s speed.

• Unleash the Depths // Rewritten for clarity.

Darklord

• Darklord Magic // Blur replaced Silence.

• Fell Curse // Streamlined. Free 1/day casting equals your Pact Slot level.

• Living Shadow // Explicitly references the Monster Manual. Limited to 1 minute.

• Right Hand of Dread // Now buffs your Shadow with Hex effects.

Exalted

• Radiant Conduit // Removed the “Smite” option (overpowered). Now buffs Celestial Light, and you can expend Pact Slots to recover Celestial Light uses.

• Blinding Defiance // Can expend Pact Slots to use this again.

Noble Genie

• Genie’s Vessel // Reworded for clarity (IMO this should be a Pact Focus option).

• Noble Magic // Reformatted for ease of reading.

• Mystical Sanctuary // Reworded for clarity.

• Limited Wish // Reworded. Recharge is set at 3 long rests.

Undying

• Undying Magic // EB is back to being an attack roll (1d10 + Pact mod necrotic).

• Undying Magic // Cause Fear replaced False Life, Fear replaced Vampiric Touch, Antilife Shell replaced Insect Plague.

• Necrotic Husk // Reworked around the Frightened Condition.

• Lifedrinker // Clarified how temp HP stacking with this would work.

• Unnatural Resilience // Reworked around new Necrotic Husk.

• Unending Life // Rewritten for clarity. No longer works around Death Ward.
