Bardcore "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis
Added 2024-02-14 16:21:43 +0000 UTCHappy Valentine's Day lovely folks! I appreciated all your well wishes on my last post. I'm dealing with some long covid symptoms, but my voice is mostly back and I have lots of ideas. The release of my video game collab was pushed to next month, so stay tuned for that! I've also been recording some more trailers for Inkulinati, the Medieval turn based strategy game where I voice Hildegard herself.
Today's video is a Patreon exclusive! I've always loved this song made famous by Elvis, but was blown away when I learned the origins of this tune. Plaisir d'amour is a French love song written in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini, and forms the foundation for large parts of this song's melody. If you want to listen to my favourite version, check out Nana Mouskouri's performance here.
It seemed only fitting to include parts of that original melody in this version. What was old was made new, then made even older again!
The delightful art is from CODEX MANESSE/UNIVERSITATSBIBLIOTHEK HEIDELBERG/CC BY-SA 2.0.
Thank you all for your patronage! I couldn't be doing what I do without each one of you.

2024-02-19 16:16:30 +0000 UTCYour version is beautiful. Thanks for sharing Nana's version too--she has such a wonderful voice. Another interesting version and one of my favorites is the one by Lick The Tins that was featured in the movie, Some Kind Of Wonderful.

2024-02-18 20:20:00 +0000 UTCThis was such a gift! I'm not a huge Elvis fan in general but I LOVE this song. In particular there is a cover by Julia Westin on YT that I am in love with, but to know you've done a cover sends me over the moon. I love how you've adjusted the verbage/contractions a little and adjusted the melody, it's beautiful :)

2024-02-17 22:25:23 +0000 UTCThank you so much for this song. It is wonderful to hear (in your written words as well as in the song) that you are feeling better. And I admit the song adequately describes my feelings when I first heard you sing. In fact, it should be us, your patreons, singing this to you.

2024-02-17 19:03:07 +0000 UTCIt's the little touches that put these arrangements over the top for me. The question of what to do with the extra syllable in "I cannot help..." is resolved with that graceful little melodic turn. The need for a new lyric for "my whole heart too" that rhymes with "thee" works seamlessly. Also, of course, the purity and directness of your singing voice really works with this sort of tune. Love it.
