EU0 / EU1 update

Welcome to the new Patrons, and thank you all for your continued support. Here's a quick follow-up to the previous November update.

As mentioned in previous updates: With the storage issues last summer, the EU0 server became much more expensive to keep around. That's why we got the new EU1 hardware configured recently. It should be much cheaper to manage in the long term. Since it hasn't seen as much traffic as EU0, we're looking to stress the server a bit by eliminating most EU0 traffic. I initially meant to wait a few months before doing this, but since the traffic graph for EU1 has been mostly stagnant ever since it went live, I decided to force more traffic to the server right away.

If the EU1 server performs fine, my initial plan was to shut off EU0 in order to save costs. If EU1 performs much slower, and you guys wish to keep this server around, the server will need financing going forward. This is why EU0 traffic is now restricted to patrons who pledge at the Supporter tier.

Also note that files are currently uploaded to the EU0 server first, and then subsequently synced to the free servers. This usually happens at 15 minute intervals. If you find files that are not available on the free server, send me a message and I'll try to fix it asap. And lastly, please let me know your experiences with the EU1 server.

In addition to this, the comments sections on the sites have had some updates.

• Comment likes and dislikes are back
• You can delete your own comments
• If you are an uploader: you can now delete comments made by others on your own uploads

This does not conclude the work on the comments section, but should make them a bit more useable. Upcoming changes include enhanced formatting, plus the recent changes and comments on the frontpage. These should land before the end of the year, but don't be surprised if these suddenly hit the site within a week or two.
