Rudy's Opinion - The 1st expansion to Scarlet/Violet is here!
The rumor is pokemon is not happy with the weak market pricing on the base set with the price increases.
This expansion has a reduced print run, and the prices are STILL very cheap.
This is one of those sale items, that is very close to market price since it is already cheap and non-profitable for stores.
It has been a long time since pokemon releases were sold at cost or a loss online for stores.
This type of market is actually considered "normal" in the long run of pokemon releases.
This gives everyone a fair chance at getting boxes very cheap and stores unload all inventory at launch.
I remain very bullish and positive on all sealed pokemon booster boxes for the 5-10 year time horizons.
Sunday night is the Elite Trainer Cases :-)
Next week is the Lord of the Rings launch....get ready!

2023-06-10 01:10:26 +0000 UTCRegular ETBs take longer to tick upward in price AND they are mass produced for retail stores. The Pokemon Center exclusive ETBs tend to be worth more because of its limited supply. Booster boxes of any pokemon product is usually a better long term holding strategy, unless you start dealing with 'special sets' like Crown Zenith which don't release with BBs.

2023-06-10 01:08:58 +0000 UTCI wish I had Rudy’s crystal ball that lets him see into whether a product has a “reduced print run” (which he says is decided a long time in advance) vs. a change in distribution strategy (trickle out vs. dump ASAP). I assume the latter is easier to implement on the fly, where the former can’t be decided as quickly as in between sets.
