The “nomad” is probably obvious since I intend to slow travel the world over the next few years, so let’s discuss “lit”.
The first meaning people probably assumed is the gen z slang word “lit” as in “awesome”. Yes, this is part of it, but I’m also wise enough to know that these words get played out, and I don’t want to end up like someone with a tattoo of a fidget spinner.
Lit is also old school slang for “under the influence” and since I’m not always sober, it seemed like a fun second meaning.
Lit is also a nod towards the FIRE (financial independence retire early) movement since a fire is lit. I planned to retire early before this movement came up with this cute name, but I do resonate with their unorthodox thinking and alternative lifestyle planning.
Lit can represent enlightenment and higher order thinking. I take pride in having original and unique viewpoints, and I hold my channel to a standard where I don’t post a video unless I make at least one original point in it (not counting vlogs of course). This is why I chose a candle for the channel icon.

Practical reasons:
“Lit Nomad” is short, fast to type, and easy to spell and remember. If someone sees one of my videos and wants to look me up later, this facilitates that.
“Lit Nomad” is unique. There are no other influencers or firms or brands with this name, so I show up first in Google searches and it’s a win for SEO.
“Lit Nomad” as a handle wasn’t already taken in YouTube. This was a big surprise to me. I didn’t want LitNomad1 or LitNomad69 or whatever because it’s harder to remember, looks less professional, and frankly, isn’t as elegant. So I was pumped that this name wasn’t taken.

Image is me dogsledding in Alaska circa 2021. It was mid pandemic and I needed to scratch my travel itch, but couldn’t leave the country, so I chose Alaska as it is the furthest away I could go while still being in the USA. It was actually an amazing experience.
