The difference is the internet and speed of communication. When MTG was at this stage. Prices were set through magazines and mailers. We didn't have the instant transfer of information like we do now. Sales data wasn't anywhere close to the same level of transparency as it is now.

Am I the only one that thinks FaB’s approach to value is concerning? MTG took years to build value in cards. Lotus and Moxen were not thousand dollar cards year 2. Seems FaB so desperately wants their cards to have high value they force the issue. I don’t know that this method is sustainable long-term. I’m not salty over cards having high price tags, matter of fact I enjoy that part of the hobby. I simply don’t think this is the way to approach building value.
