As a whole - The world continues to inflate and money continues to flow up the food chain. With no cooling off yet, the equity markets continue to hit highs. The crypto markets remain in a bull run. The Collectible world continues to be on fire. Real estate continues to rise at record levels. I expect NO CHANGE in direction until we get a net major "event" impact the world.
Magic The Gathering - Wizards continues to pump out the products and raise wholesale prices across the board. Wotc is fully aware that LGS's and Magic Fests are not needed in a modern post Covid economy. This is reflected in the continued expansion of the amazon direct store which is ran by wizards. I firmly believe the long term damage of this is beyond measurable. By angering distributors and the 3,000 LGS owners you are laying the framework for something else to come along and do susbstantial damage to the brand and sales. (ie Metazoo, FaB, Digimon, DBS,FoW, Yugi,Weiss,poke) The list of competition is big.
Reserved list - I expect the RL cards to start to find a new home at the current price levels. I am seeing buylist prices leveling out and retracing 10% on avg. Nothing extreme, but i believe we are entering a "consolidation" period for the rest of the year. The strength of a market is always tested durignt he sideways movement era. It will be fascinating to see if prices hold or retrace dramatically when the growth stalls out and the paper hands fold.
StrixHaven - I am seeing very strong numbers and distributors are reporting strong demand across the country for orders and restocks. I believe the higher EV is helping a lot. My concern continues to be what happens 6 months post release when 1million mystical archive cards are floating around and eventually ending up in the lower income Timmy collections who will ride the "erosion train" down in value. This is a terrible end user experience for long term player. This creates anger when a new player cant buylist or sell his expensive cards for anything over 10 cents on the dollar.
MODERN IN GENERAL - I am seeing a weird uptick in modern across the board. Some people point to EDH/Commander. Other people are saying there is so much money moving around, it is buying up anything that feels cheap. I dont know whats happening. Currently modern single cards across the board are rising quickly and very aggressivly.
Modern Horizons 2 - I am expecting a HUGE success on this product. Everyone knows the collector boxes will have exotic full frame fetchlands for the first time ever. THis will cause major upticks in prices. I expect very high prices and very high demand. I also believe this is going to be a single releae of collector boxes at launch and the price will jump big...simliar to the comm leg collector boxes. Get your wallets ready, its going to be a wild ride.
UPDATES TO $82 STANDARD BOXES - Due to the sheer volume of product, i am going to be streamlining the $82 cheap boxes. This means reducing the quantity of boxes offered per month. For example: right now i have 4 different standard boxes offered and i havent been able to list kaldheim draft boxes since that would be a 5th box! So in the next 90 days , i will be removing 1 set at a time until we get down to 2 draft box choices a month. The ability to manage 5 is no longer realistic. Pricing will remain the same until wizards or USPS does another huge price increase on everyone.
OVERALL PATRON UPDATE - The demand for collectibles remains at an all time high. All CCG's are booming still. The amount of patrons wanting unique products and diversity away from MTG is higher than i have ever seen in 5 years. I plan on focusing more on the vareity of items offered for the sales.
Pokemon - I dont see pokemon boxes returning to cheap $90 pricing anytime soon. Every store in the country gets a restock wave and gets wiped out immediatly. There is no way to get more boxes no matter who you are. Strongly reco keeping the boxes sealed. 2020+ era boxes will age well.
MetaZoo - An official deal was been struck. I will be making a public video soon. A special 1st edition Promotional bundle is in the works for June/July. This includes a Hairy Armed Exclusive Card that is being commisioned right now. No furhter information is available yet.
Weiss - I am still working on expanding the inventory and relationships for this product line. I want to get to a level where we can run a sale every other month on out of print weiss boxes.
Force of Will - This game is still running strong. While i dont cover it much anymore due to how much is happening in the world. The game is experiencing the biggest uptick i have seen in 4 years. Box prices are rising and single cards are selling at the fastest rate in years. Some stores have even starting mass box opening back up. Very fun times!
Digimon / DBS - Both of these new games are doing very well. I still have no plans to carry the product lines due to lack of scheduling time and also i dont trust the company due to previous track records.
Flesh and Blood - This continues to be the story of 2020/2021. The underdog that no one took seriously. Now is a worldwide phenomenon. It blows my mind to this day how fast and far the game was come. Distributors and stores around the world are shocked that the UNLIMITED printing of boxes cant even stay in stock. It truely is a pleasure to be a huge part of getting this thing to market. Very honored everyday.
1st edition WTR/ARC/CRU - One of the reasons the market has flared to extreme levels is the lack of supply and the people who held most of the boxes around the USA sold out way to quickly. You can tell the new mindset of a collector/investor. The individual sees the spike in price, and panic sells to lock in profit and fear of a crash or bubble overwhelms most people. All along i have stated to follow the fundamentals of the game and the market actions. Arc/CRU release had 100-200 stores around the USA requesting boxes. Monarch has 1,500-2,000 stores on the books for preorders. This alone is mind blowing and extremly bullish for the game. The market expansion and introduction of the game to new pockets of the public is going to spread like wildfire. People start playing with unlimited cards....and discover the 1st edition lure and they crave it as a collector. I wouldnt have risked my entire name and business online if i wasnt 100% on board that is the real deal. Not only will prices hold, but you aint seen nothing yet.
Crucible of war / Monarch 1st ed - Cru 1st will break 2k a box before the holidays due to lack of supply and expansion of the player base. Crucible of war unlimited later this year (hopefully) will most likely push the prices higher as more people discover the set. Monarch 1st edition boxes will be over 1k per box before the holidays due to extreme demand. Even with a higher print run over CRU boxes, it doesnt matter. Im sure by now everyone has realized the Fabled card is no where to be found still....lol
Monarch 1st edition sale Promo - Limiting this item to 1 per account will place a bottleneck on the rate of purchasing to slow down the rush. I took on tremendous amounts of risk financially and to my brand by backing a startup company in 2018/9. I commited major amounts of money from the begining. For example: ARC 1st edition kits, over 10% of the kits were returned due to buyers remorse. 15% more of the orders were canceled and i couldnt sell. This hit me with a short term loss of over $50,000. As with most things in life, i feel the public doesnt know the full story or takes things out of context. I believe patrons should always get a discount below market on all items. At the same time, the market sets the price. I dont believe any product should be sold for 50-70% off market.I have done this in the past, it doesnt work, this leads to panic purchasing and people buying who dont actually want the item. This leads to anger and acct closures since they didnt get to buy. They want to participate to dump it on ebay for a profit and walk away. 40% of all preorders on ebay earlier this year were from people literally flipping TC and TCG player preorders. The objective is an orderly sale that doesnt sell out instantly. This is achieved by weeding out the people in it for the quick flip. Real wealth is always made in the long run.
If you dont buy it, you will regret it.
Sometimes, you just need to trust the system. This is one of those times.
This is the greatest time since the 90's - .....for collectors/investors. We are in a special time in society right now. This is the first time i have seen a major shift in behavior and technology (crypto/electric vehicles/AI etc...) since the "internet era" of the 90's. Simliar to the 90's i dont know enough about crypto or technology to explain it all. BUT i know the importance of technology and a behavior shift in society. Blockchain technology and DeFi / Staking / NFT's / Smart Contracts / ETH 2.0 ....etc....is beyond crazy stuff. It will lead to things that we cannot imagine in 10 years. As with all new breakthoughs, things will fail, and some will rise to the top. I dont know whats coming, but i am going to be a part of it.
Collectibles are becoming mainstream, and pokemon is leading the way. Magic will have its way on the front page of youtube. It is a matter of time. Remember in a long enough timeline, everything eventually comes true. I expect more regulation and attention as collectibles expand like crazy.
While some people still need stimulus money and bailouts, the long term damage is devastating. Money printing will have side effects for the rest of our lives. No matter what anyone says, inflation is happening and its going to hurt low income and regular americans the worst. Housing and rent is skyrocketing which crushes the working class. Raw materials and food are sky rocketing, again....disproportionately hurts lower income levels the most. In the last 12 months, i have seen larger price increases in everything more than any other time ive been alive. Houses are selling for over asking prices. Collectibles are breaking records. Equity markets are hitting all time highs. No matter how you feel, this is the data.

If you don't have any of these boxes, get them while they last. No joke as Rudy is right about these 2020 boxes. Not a lot were distributed or sold due to 2020 crash so in 5 years, I expect these to do very well.

He usually does 50% and 90% sales markers to inform of quantity left. Once it's sold out He will announce end of sale and honor orders prior to his cut off (via time stamp) make sure you have your PayPal ready and set up. Even assuming a player who loves the game already got boxes near msrp (this was possible fyi) they still won't have the promos Rudy has been given. So they have to pay flipper prices to get promos they just want to have and play with. Truth is though, I feel this is honestly CFB more than flippers. Or I guess CFB is a big flipper who got a huge deal with LSS. Btw I am not complaing about what Rudy kit cost, just explaining that there is reason for NON flippers, even technically non investors to be somewhat dissappointed. Rudy is doing what he is doing though to keep it in stock for longer and hopefully not have flippers mad rush to join as patrons.

Perhaps hold the box openings over the course of a few months to drive interest and hopefully negate some of the flipper mentality that is going around. IMO those complaining that they can't just buy and immediately flip sealed product are not good for the game long term so best to ignore that noise.

2021-04-19 05:32:54 +0000 UTC@Rudy -- I lurk in the MTGfinance subreddit, and the general sentiment regarding Modern is that a lot of people (probably including many of the same commenters in that sub) are buying modern staples in *anticipation* of in-store events reopening and player demand increasing. That basically goes along with what you said -- people who feel they missed the "easy money" in the RL and sealed boom are looking for other opportunities, and have seen that modern staples have been very cheap and are relatively low risk. I'm sure this is in large part to your videos where you advised everybody to not underestimate modern or count it out just yet.
