Justin, that makes sense. Still, the latest EV I've seen on a pack (assuming no foils pulled) is ~$15 for rares/mythics only, with a box sitting at $360-370. And each pack has two foils guaranteed, so bound to be some extra EV in there, too. And, yes, the reprinting does reduce the values (though that's being accounted for in those EV numbers above). It largely depends on how many newer players are seeking all of these cards and whether that demand outpaces the additional supply—a lot of folks started playing Magic when Arena arrived in full force, many of whom got hooked on paper Magic, as well. All that being said, I put the majority of my money into the VIP product and not the regular boxes.

Chris, unless the split is 32 rares to 16 mythics it will be very easy to be below whatever you pay for the box. The 24 pack box, not the vip. The rares in this set are a dumpster fire. Only 8 rares will fetch the cost of a pack on their own. The majority are $6 and under. Meaning even 2 won’t cover a pack for the most part. Abysmal uncommons and commons don’t help the situation. The original modern masters was the best version of this product, second best being 2017? The one with the fetches. The rest have been whatever. Even ultimate masters started great, but without cards rebounding in price even that has faltered. Double masters, aside from about 3 rares, no one could give a rats ass about their reprinting. The mythics are solid, but if they keep reprinting them the way they did goyf they’re going to lose their value as well. Jace was 130 just a year ago, now 70....that’s scary. EV keeps going down with each reprint because they keep reprinting the same core mythics each time they do a set like this.

Justin, I'm not following your logic. Each pack contains 2 regular rares/mythics and 2 box toppers (of the 40 available). Which box toppers are pre-selling at $13? Or are you talking about the regular boxes? Those boxes also have 2 regular box toppers (non-foil) guaranteed. Not sure you will be below EV at this point....

As of right now, only 8 rares are even worth a pack, priced at 12.99. I understand there are 2 rares a pack, but when paying at least 279.99/box do you really want to be opening a lot of sub $5 rares? Because if you’ve taken the time to see the spoilers, there are more 35 cent rares in the set than those that clear $10. This set is turning into Eternal Masters where you’ll make or break on the mythical. Never a fun game to play, unless you get lucky or course

I’ll take a box topper Cyclonic Rift or two. A lot of these rares will have plenty of value.

If the product dips, that's when you average down. I don't see it... but if it falls to $50 a pack or less... I'll be significantly increasing my position. Especially if I can't fight the urge to crack a box. I have a feeling that won't be a problem though lol... I can scratch that itch from the box opening videos.

Market is already taking it's shirt off for the possibility of foil full art force of will and tron lands. This is anything but eternal masters, and far far from iconic masters dumpster fire.

And no. Sealed product always goes up, eventually. I just have a feeling these are currently over priced. This will turn out like eternal masters. Shit at first, good way down the road

I keep seeing this argument against 2XM. It could end up being a big issue, but right now I’d be happy to pull any pair of the box toppers in a VIP pack.

Well that would actually seem "right" in the 1 mythic per pack? Actually makes them feel... "mythic"... like they don't rain from the sky every time you open a pack like some previous products. It is lame they bumped commons and uncommons up to the "rare" slot for the box topper, but to be fair they are different versions of the card and will be "rare" compared to the regular card. It's just that well... those cards are typically a lot weaker than the higher slotted cards.

Good news is you did not need to order them. It's not a mandatory product :-) When buying a Lotto ticket I agree it is definitely nicer to know if it's a winner prior to purchasing it lol

Double the rares compared to mythics confirmed today. Be lucky to get 1 mythic per pack. Let’s not forget the commons and uncommons they bumped up to “rare” for box toppers
