Not harboring any ill intent with this comment but I have to chuckle about this whole situation. Rudy said he wasn't going to touch this product even with "our pole." Due to the high price and demand giving the example about the last collectors box release. I am glad I stayed the course and listened to the wise Rudy.

I think Rudy suggested somewhere in the comments that it would an all or nothing deal on trading Collector Boxes for C20. That being said, I think that you’re right about the potential for too little Commander 2020 product. Normally, I suspect that Wizards would simply print more, but with Commander Legends coming out later this year, I think that they would sacrifice sales of C20 to focus on the first ever draftable Commander product. It’s odd though, because $220 feels high for C20… if it weren’t for all of the “free” commander spells. Hard to make Force of Will look a little over-costed!

The Collector Boxes are a limited and finite print quantity. There will be no second print run, unlike the regular booster boxes. In general, Ikoria seems to be experiencing both a Commander demand bump (it’s aligned with Commander 2020) and a pent up desire from quarantined Magic players to buy cards of any sort. I doubt it ever drops below $230 again… unless the economy takes another haymaker to the chin.

I am seeing a mix bag of times. TCGPlayer cards are delayed a bit. Taking 10 days to arrive. Half the orders I have made that are packages are taking longer to get here and the tracking is not being updated in the system. For example I received an order the other day in 5 days. But still waiting on the Force of Will order and the tracking still says the label was created with no other info. To me it seems it is just all over the place.

UPDATE!!: I live in California and ordered 2 standard booster boxes. Shipped standard mail it took 6 days to get to me. Hopefully this is good news to you all. Very happy with the whole experience. Will keep it going.

I am beginning to think we should start to look at initial prices on these offering like Commander and these specialty offerings like collectors boxes and hedge our bets by grabbing them for the pre-order price. Then wait for the Rudy offering and grab them at that price or make a decision.

This is super surprising to me!!! But I am willing to bet as the product continues to come out, prices will fall on this Set. I am in no hurry whats so ever. It happen to the other 2 and I expect it on this set too. even though your $199 for 6 was a pretty good price. I know Wizards and they like to shoot out a ton of this product as they did with Theros.

Rudy. I’m an OG. Go back to when you started first started this Patreon. I wanted to apologize to you. I wasn’t trying to imply you were doing something scummy. I was confused by the C20 pricing and was just looking for more information to make a better decision. In the past I personally made a 300% ROI on commander products. So the $220 commander price seemed high to me. However. I remember history. And it was either C15 or C16 that reminds me of C20, wasn’t it one of those two sets where WotC decided to do only ONE print run and they were in VERY limited initial print supply? If that’s the case I get the impression now with additional information you’ve given that C20 could be the same type of situation. If that’s the case I’d like to if I could take one of my boxes of Ikoria CE and apply that to a case of C20. Is that cool? Also does this mean I can still order an additional case of C20 when that releases? Thanks man. For everything you do.

I ordered my monthly standard boxes right after I put in my collector's box order. I just received an email with a tracking number, is there anyway to know which order it is for? As for conversion, I am on the fence. I missed the previous CE sets and I wanted to get a few for holding and pass one to my graduating senior, same with C20 - a couple for the vault and one for a gift. Neither of these are "must get at any cost" items, but I did want to add something other than sealed standard boosters to the investment vault.

Check out YT channel “Cards with Michael” with Michael F who was the original plug for Rudy’s “Ikoria CB Test Box Opening” video and join his FB group to watch some packs get cracked RIGHT NOW. Also check out another Patron’s channel, Matt’s CRACKING PACKS MTG who sent the CB to Rudy for the video. Without them, we’d have no preview and I honestly don’t think demand would have been so high if it weren’t for them and their content! They are two great, honest people to deal with who creat quality content! Please support them for giving the public a sneak peak at the CB’s while we’re in quarantine! That one box in Rudy’s video went from Japan, to China, to New York, down to AL and then to FL for Rudy’s opening. All done before release! Insane what it took to get it to Rudy. I saw a post earlier where Rudy said he was on orders stamped 9:03:15 EST. My order was stamped 8:02:46 CST. My question is, should I be expecting a shipping label or should I have already had one or do those come later? Just curious because I don’t have one yet. Not being impatient, just clarifying.

In answer to your question, a refund would be preferred if first print-run Ikoria collector box orders aren't able to be fulfilled. Commander isn't a format I play or have interest in spending money on.

I ordered the 6 box quantity for the specific reason that is what is in a sealed case. I fully intend to keep it sealed and have absolutely zero desire for single boxes. People order things for different reasons. If swapping your order for C20 works for you, great! just keep in mind that it won't be the answer for everyone.

I was planning to buy C2020 also so I would I like to keep my Collectors boxes. In regards to price I see why everyone says anything over 200 is steep due to amazon having sold each deck for about 35-36 before most sold out. That would total to about 180-190 before taxes so at 200 would be a fair price at launch assuming wizards doesn’t reprint to hell if you plan to sit on them. I was planning to play with mines hehe. Keep up the good work Rudy! We appreciate all you do!

I am in the boat of wanting to keep my complete order of Ikoria collector boxes. I will also want to purchase C2020 when it is available but do not want to swap. I am ok with a limit for the first wave of C2020 and then get a shot at larger quantities with subsequent restocks. Rudy, you are doing a great job communicating and handling this situation. I’m really trying to figure out what’s going on here. We used to be sold things at wholesale. I.E. vastly under what you see on tcgplayer. In 2016 I paid $99.99 for cases of C16. Granted those decks were $35 MSRP. People were selling the, on eBay iirc for $140 by the case. If it’s $45 a deck. That’s $225 for a case. Why are we paying MSRP? Not wholesale? Edit: Yes I’m aware of supply and demand. I’ve been here since Rudy opened his Patreon. I’ve seen booms IN popularity like this and supply issues before. Wholesale has always been cheaper than MSRP.

I went elsewhere to guarantee a box and also C2020. For anyone who missed out on the first sale I know it is first come first serve but I checked after 20 minutes and already no good. In trying times such as these we can’t all be there at exactly 6pm. Maybe a friend or relative has CV and we’re deep in prayer at that time? It would be nice for folks who missed out to get a crack at C20 also as an older gentleman with the virus out there it would be nice to have a senior hour for those of us who are slow and need social distancing from other younger Timmy’s. Over 200 for C20 feels bad.

I appreciate that you are trying to come up with a solution to compensate those people who ordered large batches of collectors boxes, but I'm concerned over now not being able to get a brick of commander 2020. Will there be enough of those to go around? I thought there was a shortage of those decks. With one of the cards spiking up to around 70 or 80 dollars it is frustrating to think that maybe I won't get either a collectors box (I sent money in and got an email from paypal at around 9:03, but no idea what that even means) or the commander set now. In the future maybe it would be in everyone's best interest if there was a limit of 1 box (or 2) for the first day and then additional boxes can be purchased once everybody has a chance to order. I understand that might make it more difficult for you to process but I'm guessing that it is also stressful the way things have turned out here.

To be fair, he offered tiered pricing up to six boxes. I dont think anyone who purchased multiple boxes was thinking "Yes, Im denying someone a box". This was just a successful product release that got out of hand.
