End of year UPDATES
Added 2019-12-27 00:50:02 +0000 UTCI was able to close some strange bizarre large transaction this holiday week.
1. I was able to buy out a chain of LGS stores that held about 3,000 boxes of Buddyfight.
2. The same store also held 3,500 boxes of OLD Cardfight Vanguard booster boxes
I know these are non-magic the gathering related but i think they will make some really cool variety packs for the future. I get a lot of people always asking for different card games throughout the year, and i feel offering a variety pack with 20 different booster boxes for something crazy like 299.99 would be a really unique way to experience a full history or another CCG. Expect this type of product mid 2020. It will take some time to take delivery and inventory/sort. A video will be made to show this cool stuff.
Lastly, due to a lot of stores NOT running Friday night magic tournaments around the country. A LOT of pre-release kits remain at the distributor level. These kits include Ravnica Allgiance /War of the Spark / and Core 2020. A video will be made to show this cool stuff.
At the same time, Throne of Eldraine is expected in 2020 to be the highest selling Standard booster box EVER by total booster boxes, surpassing War of the spark, dominaria and even Khans of Tarkir. For anyone that is telling you magic the gathering is dieing, the raw numbers do not reflect that. A video will NOT be made discussing this.
I think the important factor to notice is that paper magic products are still selling incredibly well and i expect 2020 to crush it again.
I think it is important to note that "Magic Fests" and "Friday night magic" are ACTUALLY DIEING. This is also reflected in my ability to acquire TONS of pre-release kits from WPN Tournament stores. People simply do not want to go and engage in these type of events anymore. They are expensive and tend to lead to subpar experiences. Private play groups and playing with friends/family you trust and enjoy are truely the future. I do NOT think this is a bad thing. I think it has been trending in this direction for many years.
I plan on trying to acquire all of them since these will make awesome variety kits next year. A video will be made to discuss further.
The Pre-release kit through time, that i ran a year ago to the patrons remains one of the most loved product offerings i ever did. While i dont have those old sets anymore, i think it will be fantastic to do it again next year :-)
Thank you again to everyone, Merry Christmas and January should be a great month as we kick off year number 28 of Paper magic. I have sealed Pioneer cases ready to go and Throne of Eldraine should be back to normal about Janurary 8-12th range
-Rudy :-)
Comments
I have a good LGS and have had good experiences there. Especially prerelease. However I will not likely travel for another MagicFest. Way too much downtime, and event costs add up fast.
2020-01-07 18:34:15 +0000 UTCLook at the Jan Product list in the comments someone ask and Rudy say yes.

2020-01-02 01:47:57 +0000 UTCRudy doesn’t cater to any particular tier like that. I myself was a 100$ tier and found no real benefit over a person at a 15$ tier level. He does what he can to satisfy the majority and make money. Make no mistake he is a business man. I feel that the products he offers are great and the time to buy is always yesterday.
2020-01-02 00:36:25 +0000 UTCThe prerelease kits were a lot of fun last year.

2020-01-01 01:05:45 +0000 UTCMe too, prerelease kits are definitely my favorite sealed product.
2019-12-31 18:55:42 +0000 UTCAre the Guilds and RNA only going to be sold in cases? 🤦♂️ If so, too rich for my blood. I’ll stick to standard boxes. It’d be nice Rudy if you could help out some of the $15 patrons who’ve never made a purchase, and cater to them too, that would be extremely nice of you! Still waiting on Throne to get back to normal...but I wouldn’t mind a Core 2020 or WAR box.
2019-12-30 21:55:37 +0000 UTCI cant wait for that pre release kit sale.
2019-12-30 11:12:20 +0000 UTCJust sent my first 6 box order, hopefully I did it right lol.

2019-12-30 02:25:19 +0000 UTCHey Creepy Rudy..here's to hoping that those Pioneer cases that you are offereing soon include some real winners like Born of the Gods, Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze :-) I actually missed out on collecting those garbage sets but hey what can I say...I love siding with the long shots LOL

2019-12-30 02:18:44 +0000 UTCAnyone know what the "Pioneer cases" are that are said to be "ready to go"? I don't know what product he's referring to...
2019-12-29 22:55:46 +0000 UTCI certainly hope FNMs don’t go away, there are a lot of us who want that casual experience but even our only LGS since I live in Alaska runs it’s own events 4 or 5 days a week, FNM, a day for Standard, a day for Two headed giant, Thursday’s are soon to be for Pioneer come 2020. Some of us just associate with enough people due to family life, work etc to go make dedicated friends for magic, some of us need a place to go for casual Magic fun. Partly a reason I’m going to focus on Pioneer Moderns far too expensive and Standard is constantly changing
2019-12-29 10:32:06 +0000 UTCActually really interested in the buddy fight package.
2019-12-29 01:22:36 +0000 UTCI know it's not what you typically sell, but I've been a fan of Vanguard ever since it came out and would love to see what you do with the older booster products.
2019-12-28 04:09:27 +0000 UTCDefinitely excited for the Buddyfight/Vanguard variety cases. I’ve been playing Buddyfight off and on since release and Vanguard is one of my main games.
2019-12-27 17:43:05 +0000 UTCI don't have any local friends who play so I certainly hope FNM doesn't go away, I actually enjoy my LGS events. Sure there's always a nerd or two who really wants to talk your ear off because they only leave their computer for that one night a week, and an occasional bad apple, but for the most part the majority of the people I've come across over the past 25 or so years in my area have been pretty cool and fun to play against. If the LGS events go away then it wouldn't be long before wotc converted everything to arena and the paper cards we love that actually have value would cease. Then all of us investing in the game would be done for, the mtg stock would crash. The close knit group of friends isn't going to spend thousands on sealed products, at least not in my experience when I've had play groups before they rarely spent money, usually just a few packs here and there, I was the only one ever buying full boxes.

2019-12-27 06:39:12 +0000 UTCI started playing a little over a year. One thing I could not figure out how people could have such shitty attitude towards each other without realising it. Little subtle things at every FNM + horrific personal hygiene - tends to downright piss a person of. And sadly this not the young players only but old players as well. Overall one has to have a super hard skin to endure this. I am in close contact to our LGS owner and he tries to address these issues as politely as possible, without pointing fingers. However, we are such a small community that it is literally the same try-hard and smelly bastards that is a issue. For me a private play group would be four people - which would be fine but also very sad it would have to come to this, because just one or two people.

2019-12-27 05:16:12 +0000 UTCI’m glad magic is going back to local buddies and that. That’s what drove me away a lot is the whole tournament deal and everyone so competitive instead of enjoying the game. God forbid you touch their cardboard box because it’s in the way

2019-12-27 05:11:05 +0000 UTCAnything pre Kaladesh??
2019-12-27 03:57:41 +0000 UTCyea, believe it or not a lot of people surprisely are interested, especially if the box prices are 10-14 bucks lol
Rudy The Magic Guy
2019-12-27 03:50:35 +0000 UTCyea i agree, you cant go wrong buying something like 20 boxes for 299.99

2019-12-27 03:49:43 +0000 UTCGuilds and Allegiance are ready, and i have some other sets in the works

2019-12-27 03:49:24 +0000 UTCIts possible. I think that would be a healthy direction

2019-12-27 03:49:11 +0000 UTCUnfortanetly, i dont trust people especially when dealing with lots of money, so i normally buyout "distressed" stores that were ran poorly. Many times the distributor still has the product and it was reserved for certain stores. But they never paid there bills. So after so much time, the distributor will liquidate or the store will reach out to me. It is what it is. It can be very bitter sweet.

2019-12-27 03:48:57 +0000 UTCSorry Rudy I only drink Coors Lite not Bud.
2019-12-27 03:45:02 +0000 UTCRudy, do you actually keep these LGS for your portfolio or you just buy them for their inventory and shut them down?
2019-12-27 03:34:12 +0000 UTCYou think WPN will change to make engaged tickets only commander? This would clearly point towards paper going strictly casual environment. If you want to play standard/limited go on arena.
2019-12-27 02:48:55 +0000 UTCDo tease with Pioneer boxes?! Wonder which sets he will feature
2019-12-27 02:01:08 +0000 UTCAre War of the Spark cases still available now to buy ?
2019-12-27 01:56:03 +0000 UTCExcited for buddyfight ~

2019-12-27 01:55:02 +0000 UTCmark me down for a case or maybe 2
2019-12-27 01:37:19 +0000 UTCLove the variety kits. I would be down for some Buddyfight too. Pretty neat cards.

2019-12-27 01:36:06 +0000 UTCThank you Rudy for the update. I can't wait for 2020, for new magic and old with you and everyone. . Those pre release kits sounds great.
Chris Segura
2019-12-27 01:26:26 +0000 UTCI see it will be in the future, but for purposes of gauging interest level, I’d definitely like to see some prerelease kits go up for sale!

2019-12-27 01:21:57 +0000 UTCHe has not posted them yet but first of month post will have products available and prices.

2019-12-27 01:14:38 +0000 UTCWill you be selling any pre release kits to patrons any time soon? I'd be interested in some war of the spark packs.

2019-12-27 01:14:24 +0000 UTCJust out of curiosity are you in a small town or in a denser area?
2019-12-27 01:11:58 +0000 UTCHey I'm down for some prerelease kits how much ?
2019-12-27 01:11:13 +0000 UTCTrue , went to the local throne pre release , first time I've played paper that wasn't with friends in 10 years , absolutely miserable experience , late start , people being afk for matches, people being childish or just on drugs and weird. Opponents conceding two turns in because they "got shit boxes and cant make a deck" I made top 4 and only played out one game fully. The fact that store put up with this shit just to get folks in the door, but dont realize it drives most others away.
Doritos
2019-12-27 01:09:51 +0000 UTCWhat is your thoughts on Pre-Release kits containing higher rarity pulls than "Draft boosters"? Is this a confirmed thing or a hopes and dreams kind of thing
2019-12-27 01:08:43 +0000 UTCThank you Rudy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
2019-12-27 01:07:18 +0000 UTCMerry Christmas my dude. May Santa give you all the tacos

2019-12-27 01:01:52 +0000 UTCThanks Rudy! Interesting to know about the whole FNM thing. I have always been a play at home with friends type ever since I first started playing just over 20 years ago so I really don't care if that goes away! Probably a good thing because, in my opinion, I think that is one of the birth places of the negativity that surrounds Magic in a lot of ways- particularly for the whiny babies that like to play Standard. Hopefully this could lead to less complaining and less cards getting band (not likely, I know!) and losing value. Hope you had a good holiday and a great 2020 coming your way!
2019-12-27 01:01:00 +0000 UTCMerry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
2019-12-27 01:00:19 +0000 UTCHow do I find Rudy’s pioneer prices and products for patrons?
2019-12-27 00:55:32 +0000 UTCThat's interesting to hear your take on FNM. I am a fairly new magic player and go to FNM every week for draft and it's packed (but most are there to play casual Commander).
2019-12-27 00:53:57 +0000 UTCI actively search out for unsold prerelease kits. They are the best things to open up in my opinion.

2019-12-27 00:53:03 +0000 UTCLooking forward to those Pioneer cases
2019-12-27 00:52:33 +0000 UTCMerry Christmas Rudy and yeah the future continues to look bright. Especially for Magic.
