June Mid - Month Updates
Added 2019-06-23 01:19:52 +0000 UTCWizards is definitely pumping out products right now, with Core 2020 and the new commander 2019 set coming. The market appears to absorb it just fine with no signs of weakness.
Core 2020 will NOT be available at release, just like Dominaria and all other standard magic sets expect a 60 day delay for the allocation window to close. I am happy to see they are pushing the core set more this year and adding some spice to the boxes to help the product sell better. Core 2019 was the worst selling standard box in recent years.
Commander 2019 Box set, will be available at release and preorders will be about 14 days before release. I have no idea what the price will be. I expect this product to be on of the best products of the year.
War of the Spark appears to be off allocation around the July 4th weekend. So War of the Spark will be available next month starting around July 9th. No preorders will be taken since it will be available for about 9 months straight. Price is the same 79.99 shipped.
While it feels like forever....war of the spark was held on allocation for approx 61 days. Dominaria has held on release for 67 days. While the ravnica sets were only about 45 days each. Core 2019 was a scary 14 days. Its interesting to see the track record.
Gideon Spellbooks will NOT be offered since i cannot get that product.
Commander Anthology 3 will NOT be offered since i will only get a handful of boxes.
Modern horizons has now stabilized and cooled off. Negativity is starting to spread that it is garbage and will crash in price. As of right now i was only able to order an extra 100 boxes for the next restock in 30-45 days. This quantity is so low, i will not be offering it to the patrons again and i will be using this opportunity to build my position for the long term. I expect all future restocks to be small based on this data. It appears it is going to follow the Unstable/battlebond restock path...which is small restocks until they just stop at the end of the year. I feel this is a bullish indicator and will present a very strong price point for this item in 24 months. I plan on being fully positioned.
Data points to an estimated 1,200 pallet print run (264 booster boxes per pallet) and only 900 pallets were actually distributed. If this information is accurate, the public will be very surprised when the "print to demand" falls short.
I am in the process of evaluating some different options for the patreon account moving forward. Some have already noticed, i started closing the SLOTS for new patrons to sign up to curb the rush of new people and the demand of people wanting cheap boxes. Moving forward i feel the demand is only going to get stronger as we move toward an era where tcplgayer/ebay and all other websites are forced to charge taxes and other fees.
At this time my leading idea is to close all current patron slots in about 30-60 days and open up 1 new slot at a higher price if people want cheap 79.99 boxes. This rewards everyone who is reading this with a locked in slot in the cheaper price tiers. While new supporters will have a higher tier to get the same access. This is a method that many large companies use to reward the loyal supporters while raising prices to the new people. No changes will be made yet, but this is something i am still working on behind the scenes.
I am in the process of acquiring a large amount of inventory from another large store that has failed, if this goes through, it contains items like 200 jace spell books / 200 war of the spark pre-release kits / 200 spellslingers / 1,000 Global Series dual decks / and many other random mtg items which will make great variety kits for the patrons in the future.
Word on the street is another high end premium product like Ultimate masters is coming ....i have no evidence but i wouldnt be surprised to see a return of a premium reprint series with box toppers or lottery cards.
I also expect all standard sets to have an "abrupt" cut off like dominaria did. I think wizards really likes the market reaction to "surprise" out of print hype.

The recent collections of sales tax is due to the recent Wayfair Supreme Court decision last June that forced out of state sellers without a physical presence and meet a certain sales threshold to start collecting state tax. eBay and TCGplayer shipping all over the country would do this really easily since they’re a marketplace.
