Japanese War of the Spark Boxes
Added 2019-04-24 01:48:10 +0000 UTCI am getting a lot of messages from excited people on this item.
I am surprised it took wizards this long to "spice" up the foreign boxes to increase sales.
The most important variable everyone needs to understand is since 2015 NON-English magic boxes have been doing really really poorly. While the English booster box market is incredibly strong and hitting record highs on sale/growth. Foreign boxes have been tanking hard for year.
It appears wizards is implementing a new strategy to help turn this weak market around.
I think from a business standpoint, it is a genius play on wizards part.
I highly DO NOT recommend investing or buying Japanese War boxes just for different artwork on the plane walkers.
You will be paying a premium for a box just for a couple alt. artwork cards and you will be stuck with an entire booster box of cards worth substantially less than the English counterparts.
I love the artwork and the cards personally, but its a hard pass on the sealed boxes.
As with all foreign boxes i am NOT on the books for getting these boxes.
I also do NOT plan on getting them in the future.
Use Caution on placing money into this type of product/hype situation.
Video coming tomorrow.

timmys freaking out, lilly alt art prerelease is selling for $800 and climbing. lol
2019-05-11 07:22:51 +0000 UTCI don't think I would be able to enjoy MTG cards the same if they were in a different language.
2019-04-30 02:48:10 +0000 UTCTom...remember this is due to lower print run (demand reasons) as these are normally distributed in Japanese markets only and the demand at printing is low in these markets (from my understanding...I could be wrong ofc)...WoTC is transcending this limitation in this particular printing by supplying Japanese booster boxes worldwide on distributor lvls. Note: This is taken from normal supply allocation structures and press release info...if incorrect...please correct me if wrong. Cheers
2019-04-24 23:42:26 +0000 UTCYep, they will be in 1 out of 4 of the WPN promo packs for Core Set 2020 (why do they do the stupid ass car thing and name it for the following year?).
2019-04-24 23:15:22 +0000 UTCThis is factual. I have never kept a single card for sentimental reasons. I prefer to sell everything that I am not immediately using or speculating on. If I decide I need something later for a deck, I buy it back and take the loss. If I ever pull an Amano Liliana, though, I don't think I'll ever be able to part with it. If it is foil, it will get framed and put on display. I've been a huge admirer of Amano's art style since I was a little kid. I think the only other artist that could get me as excited to hold onto a magic card would be Akira Toriyama.
2019-04-24 22:23:37 +0000 UTCIMO best way to spec on these walkers is just to buy a bunch after a month or two after their release and sit on them.. people def want them to pimp out decks. Rudy is very correct, don't get stuck with a bunch of Japanese cards no one wants!
2019-04-24 21:53:16 +0000 UTCThe only other thing is that Japanese cards do hold a premium over english in any card worth more than 2$. There are entire groups that buy these. I for one have been working on a completely Japanese foil commander deck. And some of those cards cary a 2-3x multiplier due to language but any JPN foil carries at least a 1.2x over the english foil.
2019-04-24 21:14:15 +0000 UTCI've had 9 friends that have never played magic but are huge fans of the artists that will be buying sets of Planeswalkers just because of the artist. I don't want Japanese cards but the hype makes me wonder, when non players want these cards.
2019-04-24 17:29:48 +0000 UTCAgreed...plenty of time to feel the market.
2019-04-24 16:21:39 +0000 UTCNerds unleashed!...sign me up!
2019-04-24 16:20:31 +0000 UTCYes...everyone should buy the singles only! 8) This will drive up prices of the booster boxes. Muhahahha And Rudy does have a VERY valid point. It would be on par with buying Unstable boxes.

2019-04-24 16:16:33 +0000 UTCThe important thing the remember about the Japanese boxes is that they're only going to be limited to literally the entire Japanese print run. These cards are going to be in print for at least a year. This isn't a limited or premium product. If someone does end up wanting them, there's going to be time to get them five, six, seven months down the line. Nobody should feel like they need to rush out and get them now, these aren't going to be anything here for a week and then totally gone. This is going to be an available product.
2019-04-24 11:52:41 +0000 UTCThey're just trying to jump on that Japanese PokΓ©mon boom. It's comical how well sealed boxes of Japanese PokΓ©mon products do.
2019-04-24 05:43:49 +0000 UTCI wish they invited hentai aritists for the art. That would spice up sales in japan atleast
2019-04-24 05:23:15 +0000 UTCFoil, alt art, foreign Liliana.... EDH players harder than a Cop at a Krispy Kreme. Prepare for full frontal nerdity ππ€£ππ€£

2019-04-24 03:12:31 +0000 UTCI might buy a few packs at my lgs, but I think I'll just buy singles of the ones I like. Got to save my extra pennies for my mythic Timmy box.
2019-04-24 03:02:57 +0000 UTCIf you like them... just buy the singles?
Jeffery Manzanares
2019-04-24 02:43:30 +0000 UTCGood point Rudy, the money put out will do a "TimmyKaze" and you'll end up with some Floppy Sushi ...
2019-04-24 02:39:00 +0000 UTCPeople that know who Amano is will drive the price up of alt art foil lili's

2019-04-24 02:30:51 +0000 UTCHaving consistency in the booster box is more important than some chase planeswalkers that arenβt even in the language the game is dominant in, imo.
2019-04-24 02:20:03 +0000 UTCI think Rudy brings up a sober point. We all love the artwork but unless each of these alternate artwork cards carries a significant premium, like at least double the normal value, it won't offset the depressed value of the alternate language cards. If you want the cards, it's probably best just to buy the singles.

2019-04-24 02:12:36 +0000 UTCI might buy some Japanese boxes since I'm in Japan.

2019-04-24 01:59:43 +0000 UTCthey disclosed it would be 1 in 2 planes walkers out of japanese boxes would be alternate art
Ivan Fuchs
2019-04-24 01:54:37 +0000 UTCim buying two japanese boxes in order to get a minimum of 36 alternate arts and then buy whatever is missing. im assuming the price will be cheaper then buying them all out individually. i do agree however that it sucks to have japanese rares that are going to be useless

2019-04-24 01:54:04 +0000 UTCWhat if we just want to crack them?
2019-04-24 01:53:56 +0000 UTCI may just buy each alt planeswalker. 1 of each
Selesnyan Envoy
2019-04-24 01:52:43 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly theyβll also be given out somehow through WPN stores (standard showdown packs maybe?) so thereβs another way theyβll be entering the market. I like the art a lot as well but Iβll just pick any up as singles. The gamble will be huge if you buy sealed hoping to pull these.

2019-04-24 01:52:36 +0000 UTCWatashi wa wakarimasu, Rudi-sensei.
2019-04-24 01:52:16 +0000 UTCfair enough, I personally wont be buying a box for investment purposes and if there is a premium on the box I will likely not buy one at all. be nice to have for my collection but not worth it to me at a higher cost. thanks for the update sir
2019-04-24 01:51:42 +0000 UTCI still need iiittttt But honestly do not know anything about foreign booster boxes Still want one though bahahahahaha

2019-04-24 01:51:12 +0000 UTCHow do you think the pricing will be for the alt-art planeswalkers? Will they be high out of the gate and then plummet after demand is met?
