Mid October Updates

Hope everyone is doing well and time for some TCG/CCG world news updates ;-)

The feedback from the last 2 months has been very positive and everyone really likes the mid month market update. So this is something i will be doing every month so all my patrons can have an understanding on what is happening internally :-)

Lets start with Magic, Guilds of Ravnica is selling incredibly well nationwide. It is following the exact footsteps of Dominaria. Due to the strong sales, expect an easy 1-2 months until i am able to get a lot of boxes. Distributors are "drip" selling the boxes at $80.00+ to stores to capitalize on the hype. Dominaria took 3 months to settle, i expect the exact same scenario with Ravnica. Be patient and do not over spend in the moment. You will regret it when the dust settles.

With the price "adjustments" to stores nationwide sales of all other sets have declined about 35% since the September 1st price change. Stores simply are not ordering product as much and combined with fear of price erosion and Amazon competition holding box prices in the mid $80's for Dominaria/Core 2019 it has created a lot of fear for stores to carry additional inventory.

A small amount of Battlebond was reprinted but it is essentially useless. Every Distributor only will give 6 boxes per store and some distributors have raised the price to $86.00 a box for a store. I do not expect any more reprints and in addition i expect box prices to push to $150.00+ within 12 months.

Same thing with Unstable, it is out of print and Distributors still have some boxes but want some ridiculous $100.00+ a box price making it essentially useless. In my opinion, it appears most distributors have shifted the business model to spike prices on the "rare" non-mass produced boxes to compensate for the lack of profit on standard boxes. Just my theory.

Commander 2018 sold good and remains sold out with distributors, apparently simliar to last year, WOTC is behind on the printers and simply has not finished the 2nd round reprint of this product. I expect the restock to be low since the feedback was very negative on the product. If i can get at least 100+ sets i will reoffer to the patrons at the same price. I expect this "restock" to show up in December/janurary, that is my guess.

If you were lucky and purchased a Ravnica MYTHIC edition from Hasbro direct, i would flip it as soon as possible. The cheapest price on ebay last week was $625.00 and as of the typing of this message it has now dropped to $489.99. As the hype settles and people move on i expect the price to stabilize around 300-350. Very simliar to the SDCC special items every year. When the market realizes this will be a regular thing with future sets the "special" excitement with erode away and so will the premium prices for flippers.

I am working on getting some Ixalan back in stock since it has been a surprise in value. I am hoping for November or December to have it back available at 79.99 :-)

In the next 4 months i have the Core set variety pack/Eternal&Modern Masters set/Pre-release kit through time and lastly an odd shape variety item (Cons1/Cons2/Battlebond) is the idea. I am not sure on the order of these specials but they are all coming.

Moving on to Force of Will, there will be another VARIETY kit in the future, with different items. The last package was an insane success and has even helped force of will Grow as a whole with sales of boxes/singles. The price will be impressive of course.

All future FoW sets i will receiving a LOT more booster boxes on new release sets to ensure i have enough for everyone. I did not expect the huge uptick in FoW sales on the launch of New dawn.

Lastly Pokemon continues to trade flat. It is not growing or shrinking. I think it is going through a consolidation phase after the last 2 years of crazy growth. Similar to Reserved list magic cards right now. I think in 5 years a lot of people will regret missing the investment opportunities in today's cheap market.
