OP Sister Chapter 498: What Are Void Rulers?

-----

“What’s a Void Ruler?” Baihe asked, confused.

“I dunno…” Annabelle muttered.

“It’s the highest form of a Constellation,” my brother answered, as Fenrir continued. “It is what you get when a Constellation surpasses the layers of Causality and transcends this Dimension. They’re interdimensional entities that can travel between Universes and possess immense power beyond Nebulas themselves. It is well known that only a Void Ruler can kill another. Their power is absolute.”

“W-What?” Baihe gasped.

Henrietta stayed silent for a moment before speaking. “If that King of all Evil becomes one, we’re royally fucked then, right?”

“Not entirely,” Fenrir said. “The reason they haven’t come here to devour us is because they’re higher-dimensional beings. Intervening in lower dimensions is forbidden by the Laws of Causality, which they’ve assimilated upon surpassing them, becoming part of their essence. Hence why they’re called ‘Rulers,’ as they embody Causality and enforce its rules. They only appear when the Rules are broken, using force to devour anything in their path.”

“…”

I stayed silent, recalling the Universal Computer. How could it target Bestia so directly? I suppose Bestia did something to break the rules of Causality. I recalled some justifications, but they don’t align with Fenrir’s words.

Perhaps the Venerables’ existence? Their strength surpasses Constellations while they remain mortal, and they’ve endured an ongoing Apocalypse.

Yeah.

That makes sense. It must have worn down Causality for thousands of years, creating an opening for a Void Ruler to target this world as an “enforcer.”

Thank God my brother from the original timeline was there, fighting her off to buy enough time for the Mother of the Machines to finish her with the Causality Bomb she created.

Even so, reflecting on everything that happened makes my head spin.

“Just a month is not enough time,” Kevin said. “How can we grow strong enough to prepare for that?”

“Causality will still bind them,” Fenrir said. “So they shouldn’t be overwhelmingly strong, but they’ll be the next strongest thing possible. Yes, it’ll be tough, but if you train and grow stronger this month, and if we can gather the Avatars of the Archangels, fighting back won’t be impossible.”

“Yeah,” I nodded. “Let’s not give up hope, everyone. We can do this… I know it’s hard to believe and it came out of nowhere but… it’s not like we got any other option.”

I had to put on a brave face to cheer them up. My powers grew stronger the more Hope I inspired and the more Love I used to nurture them.

Deep down, though, I felt awful. This was my fault. We failed to finish off Lucifer back then, and somehow, this triggered a butterfly effect. Instead of weakening as in the original timeline, he gained even greater strength.

His army isn’t my main concern, but his Demonic Thrones and the Demon Dukes that might join him are. Those will be the real challenges. If they open too many Demonic Gates, they’ll spread Demonic Energy and create Demonic Zones, where they can wield power beyond the Rules of Causality.

We can’t let that happen.

“The road trip is happening as planned,” Jack said as we sat down for breakfast, discussing what Gabriel had just told us. “As Henrietta said, it’ll be a good chance to grow stronger.”

“Now that I’ve heard this, I might have to go too,” Henrietta said. “The city won’t be defenseless with all the hunters here, plus the chairman, who’s fully healed, and Anna’s Familiars.”

“Yeah, it’ll be fine,” I nodded. “Hilda’s town has become a Pseudo Draconic Realm since the Draconic Gate infused it with Murky Mana and Draconic Energy. It’s the perfect place to train and grow stronger. We can also use the dragon materials we harvest to power up. I’ve learned techniques from some Constellations to forge Physiques and even Martial Cores. Anything to get stronger at this point.”

“Interesting…” Henrietta nodded. “Though I wonder if I’m compatible with dragons?”

“Anyone is. Dragons can take countless forms and elements,” I said. “Holy Dragons, Angelic Dragons, and more exist out there, so it’s totally fine. They’re among the strongest and most adaptable beings!”

“Wow, you sure know a lot, Anna…” Baihe said.

“Uh, well, yeah, a few dragon Constellations talk to me sometimes,” I said with a nod.

I wasn’t lying. There was the Heavenly Golden Dragon Emperor, then the Yellow Dragon, his son, and… uuhh, do Gram and his wielder count?

Oh, right, there were other dragons too.

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon King of Frost} awakens from his slumber the moment you mention “dragons”!]

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon Princess of Holy Light} reprimands her father, saying he shouldn’t meddle in lesser worlds.]

Wait, who are these guys?

I recall them appearing once before, recommending I watch something, then vanishing for a while.

They never appeared in the original novel.

Huh, new Constellations are popping up out of nowhere. First the machines, now these guys. Interesting.

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon King of Frost} says his daughter is too spoiled and doesn’t recognize great draconic potential when she sees it!]

[He says with a cocky smirk that he might teach you a few things about adapting, absorbing, and assimilating Dragon Power, and even how to create a Dragon Heart.]

[However, he’ll ask for something in return.]

Huh? What is it? If it’s reasonable, I could do it.

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon King of Frost} nods, saying he’ll reveal what he wants once you begin your little road trip.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon Princess of Holy Light} sighs wearily at her father.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon Princess of Machines} seems confused about what’s happening.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon Prince of Chaos} smiles, realizing his father is interested in a pitiful little world again! Perhaps this time he can spread some fun chaos and test the pitiful little mortals for his own amusement.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Dragon King of Frost} scoffs at his unruly son, saying he didn’t raise a madman!]

Woah, he’s got a big family.

Who is this guy, I wonder?

I’ll find out along the way.

He seems chill, but I’ll stay cautious for now.

[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} is puzzled by these new Dragon Constellations, saying they must not be from this Universe.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} is thrilled his father has appeared! He says: “Father! Please send me my allowance! Being so poor is embarrassing!”]

[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} sighs, noting that his son overspends his allowance on frivolous things and needs to learn better resource management.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} cries.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} pats his son on the head, saying he’s done great things nonetheless, and his Avatar is an admirable, powerful man. He agrees to send the allowance if his son promises to spend it wisely.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} nods, claiming he is a changed dragon!]

[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} smiles proudly, sending the yearly allowance.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} smirks deviously and leaves.]

[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} is shocked, chasing after his son.]
