“It’s something more complicated,” Jack muttered. “Um, and it’s her decision what we do with it.”
“What?” I asked.
“Let’s just go,” he said. “Sorry about that, Baihe. We usually aren’t like this.”
“Ah, it’s fine. Still better than when I lived with my uncle, heheh.” Baihe giggled nervously. She was trying to lift our spirits, but she wasn’t good at it.
Still, I loved that she was trying at least. She had grown a lot since the first time we met, for sure.
...
Once we reached the rooftop of my brother’s apartment, we quickly started flying.
Well, Baihe couldn’t quite fly, so I carried her in my arms while I flew with my wings.
My brother could easily fly with black wings made of shadows as well. This was easier than taking any taxi.
Henrietta’s house was in her own building, which was also the headquarters of the Golden Shield Guild, which she managed as the Guild Master.
Stronghold City recovered quickly. The catastrophe left by the Demon Castle's collapse and the demon invasion was being quickly repaired. Many buildings were back on track.
The walls were also repaired and reinforced even more than before, with special magic devices for stronger barriers.
Overall, people, both civilians and hunters, resumed their daily lives, moving from place to place, talking, laughing, living their lives.
The sky was clear blue, with beautiful white clouds here and there, and the sun shining brightly, bringing light and warmth to this usually cold, dark city.
As we flew above everyone, I was able to see the scale of everything and appreciate this place, my city, my home.
“Well, I’m really back home, huh?”
As I talked to myself, Baihe looked at me with a confused expression.
I better not talk like that again.
“It’s over there, Anna.”
My brother pointed down, and we quickly descended to the building beneath us.
It was a huge apartment building of, I think, over twenty floors.
There was a huge logo on the front door with a shield made of gold.
It read:
[Golden Shield Guild: Always Protecting The City]
I guess that’s their slogan. Not bad. They indeed are among the few Guilds that always protect the city and its citizens, even from non-monster threats, actively cooperating with the police and military forces when necessary.
I think this is also how the guild had grown so much since Henrietta, who only rose to A Rank fairly late compared to everyone else, founded the guild not that long ago, about two years ago.
Right now, she’s among the few S Ranks in the city, and perhaps in the country, so her status is even more prestigious than before.
My brother scored big time with her, so I can’t really tell what’s going on between the two that they haven’t talked about for so long.
I’m worried.
...
As we walked toward the building’s gate, the guard quickly recognized us.
“Ah! The S Ranks! Anna and Jack?”
“Yep, that’s me,” I nodded.
“We came to visit Henrietta and Kevin. Are they here?” Jack asked.
“They are, sir, currently training downstairs,” the guard said. “Should I call them and tell them you’re here?”
“Please,” Jack nodded.
The man nodded, quickly doing so, and then let us inside. The building was huge, and there were more people than I imagined, like over a hundred at least. A large number of young Hunters were there, the youngest almost fourteen years old. It looked like a lot of rookies were training here before debuting as actual Hunters.
“Oh wow, this place is huge,” Baihe said. “And there are so many things everywhere. First time I’ve seen transparent glass stairs, though. Kind of confusing to look at.”
“You’ll get used to it,” Jack said. “Come on, we can show you the facilities later, Baihe.”
“Ah! Yes!” she nodded, quickly following us while still marveling at her surroundings, bumping into people accidentally.
She was still a bit clumsy sometimes, but that was part of her charm, I think.
“Well, there they are.”
We walked downstairs, and then we finally saw them. Kevin and Henrietta were sparring against each other. Kevin moved quickly, leaping from one place to another while holding his spear, landing piercing blows at Henrietta, who easily parried them with her long sword.
Eventually, Kevin started leaping in midair and rushing down with his spear, which Henrietta countered by moving out of the way and then striking her brother’s back, sending him flying. Kevin quickly stood back up, unleashing a rain of spears made of light. His sister retaliated with swords made of light, as their magic clashed, generating explosions across the training field, protected by a strong magic barrier.
The guild members glanced at the scene in silence and awe, amazed by the strength of their guild master and her young brother, who was rapidly catching up to her each day.
“I won’t lose today!”
Kevin charged amidst the explosions, surprising his sister as his spear aimed at her chest armor, striking her with force, generating a shockwave.
BOOOM!
“Not yet!”
However, Henrietta endured it, standing on her ground. She swung her sword and struck her brother’s shoulder armor, sending him rolling across the floor.
CLASH!
“Ugh.”
Kevin complained, slowly standing up and glaring at his sister with frustration but then smiling and nodding.
“I lose again. You’re as amazing as ever, big sis.”
He stood up as he and his sister shook hands, ending the spar on good terms.
“You were pretty good yourself, Kevin! You’ve definitely grown so much stronger than before. I think with a bit more training, you’ll be S Rank.”
“Really? Can’t wait!”
He was very excited.
While they talked, we quickly walked to greet them.
“Hey, Kevin!”
“Huh? Anna? What are you doing here? Welcome.”
“Came to check on you. Looks like you don’t ever take a break. That was pretty great.”
“You think so? Well, I’ve been training, but I still can’t compare to you or my big sister.”
“Don’t worry. As she said, you’ll get there.”
As I patted his shoulders, I greeted Henrietta.
“Hey! Long time no see, Anna!”
“Hi!”
She hugged me tightly and even kissed my cheek. She was always so lovely.
“So yeah, we came here to check on you two and maybe have a chat, perhaps spar or something. And, um,” I looked at my brother. “Hey, come on, what’s wrong?”
“Henrietta,” my brother walked toward her, looking sad. “Did you do it?”
“Jack,” Henrietta blushed a little, looking around. “Um, let’s talk about this somewhere more private first.”
“Yeah,” Jack nodded.
We walked to their office, where Jack and Henrietta continued their conversation.
“I,” Henrietta muttered, grabbing my brother’s hands. “I don’t want to.”
“Eh?” Jack’s eyes widened, as his expression changed quickly. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Henrietta nodded. “I know I told you that this world was too harsh and all of that, but I thought that I would never be able to forgive myself if I aborted it.”
“Henrietta,” my brother suddenly started crying, hugging her.
Henrietta was also crying.
“Let’s have the baby, Jack. Let’s raise them together, like a mom and a dad would, okay?”
“Yes! Of course! Henrietta, I love you.”
“I love you too!”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Well.
That.
Uh.
Hmm.
That was a lot to take in.
Baihe and even Kevin were shocked, speechless.
And me too, honestly.
So that’s why.
Henrietta is pregnant!
This never happened in the original story.
This completely changes everything even more.
Because of the changes I brought, I have made it so new life could be born, with my brother and Henrietta being together.
So Henrietta was most likely afraid. She was afraid of raising a child in such chaotic times.
She probably told Jack that it might be better to abort or something.
And he got all depressed because of that, but in the end, it seemed he wanted to respect whatever her decision was.
But then this happened.
“Wait a second! Am I going to be an auntie?” I asked happily. “Henrietta! You’re pregnant?”
“Yeah,” Henrietta giggled while crying. “I’m sorry for not telling anybody yet. It was a very personal thing we wanted to discuss first. But I don’t even know why I considered aborting. It would’ve been so stupid. The baby I’m carrying is our beloved child.”
She caressed Jack’s face, smiling at him.
“It’s the fruit of our love, right?”
“Yeah. Even if it was abrupt, I will take responsibility, Henrietta.”
“You’ll be a father for our baby, Jack?”
“I’ll do my best.”
“Heheh. I’m so happy, Jack!”
Jack gently lifted her up, kissing her lovingly.
Wow.
Well, this is beautiful.
God damn it.
I’m moved.
“Uuh, sister,” Kevin was crying. “I’m happy for you, I guess.”
“This was very moving,” Baihe was also wiping a few tears.
“Heh, I guess you two got caught in the emotional turmoil too, huh?” I giggled. “Yeah, it’s nice, I suppose. Then from now on, our families are one, Kevin! Heh.”
“Eh?” Kevin looked genuinely upset after I said that.

I just thought of something interesting 🤔. If Song and Zero-One just sucked up into a rift in space that appeared on their world and popped out of onto Earth where Anna is.
