Ausberth, who had ensured there would be no disturbances during his invasion, found himself utterly flabbergasted by the current situation. He had felt tremors earlier but dismissed them, assuming they came from his great army. However, as the thing became clear in the distance, he began to doubt his own eyes, convinced this couldn’t be happening.
“Master, there’s a huge golem coming our way here!”
“We saw it! We saw it!”
“What do we do?!”
A trio of flying imps reached Ausberth—part of the mercenaries he had contracted. They were efficient scouts thanks to their wings and rapid flight.
“Keep advancing, hurry! It might not even be targeting us! We have to move to Elderbridge; that’s our priority right now!”
Ausberth wasn’t going to let anyone—not even a giant monster hundreds of meters tall—stop him from achieving his goals.
This was only one of the steps he needed to take to claim the Iron Blood Empire’s Throne. One at a time, he would conquer every one of its territories and then use their bountiful resources to ascend even further.
“I won’t stop at anything to achieve my goals! Helena and Hector’s deaths won’t be in vain; I’ll make sure of that!”
Fueled by a mix of revenge and selfish ambition, Ausberth displayed incredible tenacity and willpower unlike anything seen before.
The armies marched forward, running as quickly as possible to avoid the steps of the giant golem, yet they only drew closer and closer!
“Hurry, hurry, the forest… it’s not too far before we can finally reach Elderbridge’s outer territory and the—!”
BOOOM!
But before he could finish speaking, a giant stone foot stomped the ground in front of him, killing dozens of soldiers and flattening them into the ground in a single second.
“A-Ah…!”
His eyes widened, left speechless as the giant golem loomed above him, its sharp, glowing blue eyes made of crystals glaring down.
“Impressive! It seems there weren’t one, but two groups of annoying insects down below,” the one sitting atop the Mountain Dragon Golem said. “What brings you to these desolate lands?! Another one of Vlad’s allies?! I’ll stomp you even if you aren’t, vermin!”
His voice was ruthless as Ezekiel’s magic manifested. Giant boulders of stone, imbued with screaming souls, rained down, each over ten meters long.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
As each boulder fell, they cracked and shattered into pieces, crushing dozens of soldiers with every impact. Ausberth couldn’t believe the situation, much less think strategically as he had so many times before to find what could benefit him from this chaos…
“Damn it! What the hell is going on?!” Bloodfang roared angrily, swinging his hammer and destroying dozens of falling boulders with it.
“Looks like that princey Vlad has prepared quite the warm welcome for us, kahahahah!” Sharpclaw laughed, reveling in the chaos and destruction everywhere.
Both stepped forward, unleashing their powerful Auras, showcasing the strength of their evolved Physiques and immense quantities of Arcana and Energies.
Orcs cultivated their bodies above all else. Bloodfang’s Physique even held Ki within—a feat immensely difficult to grasp.
Meanwhile, Werewolves nurtured their Beast Spirit Souls. As Sharpclaw laughed, his aura surged like a roaring wolf beast.
Together, they clashed against the falling boulders, destroying dozens with a single move each!
“{Tempestuous Blood Storm}!”
“{Wolf Beast King Roar}!”
Bloodfang unleashed a tempest of crimson energies with a single swing of his hammer, while Sharpclaw roared mightily with his very soul, generating a deadly shockwave that disintegrated the incoming boulders.
“Aahhh! Right! You two are quite formidable! I-I am saved!”
Ausberth sighed in relief, grateful he still had competent fighters and that not everyone was a weakling ant ready to be stomped.
He glared back at his giant monsters, their heads and shoulders covered in cybernetic enhancements and machinery to brainwash and control them at will.
They were also loaded with huge cannons and missile launchers—marvelous technology Ausberth had acquired to destroy Elderbridge.
But now, he was forced to either fight with them or somehow hope to reach Elderbridge…
RUMBLE!
Unfortunately for him, he had no other option as the giant stomping foot of the Mountain Dragon Golem rushed down toward him.
“Damn it! Are you serious?!”
“Hey, Master, get out of here!”
Bloodfang and Sharpclaw roared, rushing toward the massive foot and clashing against it, trying their best to push it back… and they somewhat managed to stop it!
“I cannot just escape…! I’ll face this head-on!”
Ausberth was tired of fleeing and hiding. Pointing his hand forward, all his machinery, loaded with Monster Cores and Arcana Crystals, fueled their power and fired dozens of powerful, explosive laser beams.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The giant leg of the Mountain Dragon Golem began to crack, with huge pieces crumbling to the ground below, successfully forcing it to step back and retreat.
“Magicians! Archers! Gunners! Cannoneers! All of you, attack at once! Bombard that thing to oblivion! I am not letting any monster get in the way of my conquest plans, no matter what!”
Ausberth was furious, using all his power to stop and push back the giant golem, no matter how difficult it became.
And it was somewhat working, albeit slowly…
“Emerald Maiden! Don’t let him intimidate you! You’re much more! MUCH MOREEEEE!”
Meanwhile, the priestess began crying green, slimy tears, covering the ground beneath her with liquid acid.
The Auras of her cult members began overflowing as well, combining with hers into something larger…
And more monstrous.
[The {Maiden of the Emerald Sea} says that the party has just started, and that there’s so much more to do before leaving!]
“What?!”
Vlad’s eyes widened as he saw this notification out of nowhere, glancing toward the Dark Forest in the distance.
