Through the Dark Forest, a vast army marched forward. The Dark Spirits and other Beasts roaming this accursed land fled, intimidated by the loud noise and relentless tremors caused by thousands advancing toward their objective: Elderbridge City, the farthest city from the Iron Blood Kingdom’s capital, known as the poorest and least desirable.
Yet, the man leading this army coveted nothing more than to claim this city for himself. Envisioning the resources he could extract from its Dungeons and the Civilization Magic that Prince Vlad had awakened, he could not restrain himself. He went out of his way to amass a formidable army, composed primarily of mercenaries and bandits, to assault Elderbridge once and for all.
He even enlisted the aid of the Desecrated Shadow King’s Templars, a dangerous cult of extraordinarily powerful assassins serving an evil outer god. In exchange for their cursed equipment, they helped spread their deity’s influence through Obscuritas, equipping barbarians with this gear and sending them to assault Elderbridge’s walls.
When that failed, the queen—his own sister—and her son went so far as to invade Elderbridge, using the power of these curses to empower themselves. Even then, they ultimately lost their lives.
Now, he was left alone, without his sister or her son, but with the entire Silver Moon City under his control after Helena and Hector’s deaths. Using all the treasury and funds, he created this massive army, which he was certain would deliver the victory he craved so fiercely.
And it wasn’t just hundreds of orc, werewolf, and goblin mercenaries and barbarians in his ranks. Giant monstrous beasts, draconic creatures, cyclopes, trolls, and more marched alongside them, all embedded with cybernetic machinery not native to this Realm, controlling their brains and nervous systems.
These creatures not only bore cybernetic enhancements but also carried massive cannons and guns, glowing brightly with neon light. The man leading them sat atop a colossal Abyssal Mammoth, a powerful monster from the snowy lands of the south. He had chosen to leave his throne and personally lead this campaign, driven by his desire to claim Elderbridge’s throne for himself.
“This is it! All previous losses have brought us to this moment, everyone!”
As he laughed, he surveyed his enormous army and the dozens of powerful giant monsters he commanded with a cybernetic enhancement on his right arm, glowing with various lights.
This technology came from a “Star Traveler,” a visitor from another Realm who had crashed near his kingdom a few months ago. The traveler survived the impact of passing through the Realm’s atmosphere and dimensional bubble.
He was a reserved man who spoke little, but he was grateful for the aid provided and offered his advanced technology in exchange for the unique resources of this world, which he had come to harvest. After leaving behind a vast quantity of unprecedented tech and taking what he wanted, he departed without concern for the “balance” of this Realm or its consequences.
The man leading this army, having struck deals with several powerful factions effortlessly while consolidating their power for himself, was a master of manipulation with an insatiable greed for expansion and resources to fuel his own growth and that of his city.
His name was Ausberth Silver Moon, the younger brother of Helena Silver Moon and the current ruler of the Silver Moon Duchy, which had been causing relentless trouble for Elderbridge since Vlad awakened as a Player.
“Aren’t you excited? You’ll get to destroy and ravage that city for all it’s worth!”
The barbarians, bandits, and mercenaries roared in unison, raising their weapons, as eager as he was to plunder Elderbridge and seize everything they desired.
“Hmph, that guy sure knows how to raise morale…”
A large, muscular orc with a scar across his face smirked at Ausberth’s words. Carrying a massive hammer shaped like a dragon’s skull, he had unified most of the barbarian tribes here, deployed as mercenaries under Ausberth’s command.
He was the Great Barbarian King of the South, the Great Berserk of the Battlefield, Bloodfang. By his side were his elite warriors, the strongest orcs he could recruit, all members of these barbarian tribes, distinct from the orcs who often lived in cities or villages, as they were closer to bandits than civilized people.
“I do wonder, though, how far our loyalty will go for him? Kahahaha…”
Amidst the armies, another figure stood nearly on par with Bloodfang: a massive crimson and black-furred werewolf with four arms and an imposing stature, twice the size of Bloodfang. He carried no weapons—his entire body was a weapon in itself.
He was the Great Beast King of the Southwest, Sharpclaw, Bloodfang’s rival and leader of the large werewolf tribes dwelling in the colder regions of Obscuritas’ southwest. He was notorious for his savagery and ruthlessness, perhaps even surpassing Bloodfang.
“Damn dog, you better watch over your puppies! I don’t want them getting in the way of my boys.”
“Kahahaha! We’ll see about that, Bloodfang! But for now, we’re allies! So let’s work together, shall we? We hardly ever have such an opportunity, do we?”
“Hmph… amidst the battles between pompous nobles, it seems we, those usually hunted by them, shall now benefit the most as their greatest assets! How ironic, hahaha!”
“Right? Kahahahah! I can’t wait to devour all those little people at Elderbridge! I bet their meat is tender from living such easygoing, comfortable lives, right?”
“I don’t care about stuff like that, you damn disgusting dog! But I bet they’ve got some beautiful women around… and riches.”
