The entire army, including many Immortals, broke through thousands of robots, ultimately managing to reach the Mechanical Tree, tearing their way through with everything they had. They would never have been able to advance this quickly without the great support and area-of-effect attacks from Anna’s Egos and the Primordial Beasts.
“We’re getting closer!” Sepa roared as she was right by Violet’s side. The two gigantic centipedes coiled around the machines, crushed them, and fired beams from their jaws, blowing up anything in their path.
“The Venerables were able to slice it open, but it seems they quickly patched the ceiling! Where do we get in?!” asked Yin Sheng. “Do we attempt to break through the ceiling?” As he asked this question, he continuously destroyed machines, rapidly jumping from one to another.
“It seems to be the best strategy, yeah!” Zero Two responded. “If the ceiling was made just recently, then it must be much weaker and frailer than the rest of the structure!”
“Indeed, I agree!” Zero One nodded. “We’re dive-bombing in then!”
“D-Dive bombing in? What does that even mean?” Zero Three asked.
Her question went unanswered, as the gigantic mech rushed down. The machines trying to stop her were decimated by its massive body and its powerful aura, generating countless explosions as the machine descended.
CRASH!
With all their force and power at once, while the giant mech overflowed with electricity, the three sisters unleashed all their power, breaking through the ceiling as it exploded into pieces everywhere.
RUMBLE!
The massive mech immediately fell into the Mechanical Tree’s interior, which was as big as an island itself, entirely different from the other Mechanical Trees whose interior was only as big as a stadium.
“We’re inside! Come inside! Quickly!”
Zero One called the rest of their friends as Violet and Sepa broke through hundreds of insectoid machines, devouring them and opening the way with their gigantic bodies for the rest to enter. Sara and Bastet, with their great speed, were the first to step inside. Yin Sheng and Wai Tian were right after them, and then Yu Mingzhu alongside Uroboros. The little Shiro accompanied one of Anna’s Egos, while Violet, Sepa, Snow, and the rest of the Undead, Machines, and Immortals made a giant barricade with their barriers and auras, not letting the machines coming from outside interrupt their raid.
“Wait, Sepa, you’re not coming?!” Bastet asked.
“Don’t worry about me, Bastet! I am just one of Anna’s Egos. I can go with you later! I’ll hold on to Violet here! Let’s do it, little guy!”
“KRIEEEEHHH!”
Sepa quickly merged into Violet’s body, transforming the centipede into a massive, one-kilometer-long divine cosmic centipede. His purple exoskeleton turned blue and golden, and his legs and jaws became even bigger and sharper. She had already done something similar before with him, but after a long time of training and growing stronger, Violet had become a much better vessel for her powers, and her possession was strengthened even further.
“Hey, this is wonderful! We’re like the perfect dream team!”
“SHYAAAH!”
Violet roared, opening his massive jaws and devouring hundreds of machines at once, crushing them with his giant insect jaws and pulverizing them completely. Meanwhile, Snow used his gelid powers to their limits, generating gigantic iceberg-sized walls of ice out of the sea itself, freezing most of the surrounding oceans with his mighty howls.
“AWOOOOO!”
As he roared, one of Anna’s Egos sat over his body, imitating the shape of Baihe to an extent. Channeling the Ice Magic Anna had seen her using through her Magic Abilities and Runic Hands, she created something similar to an Ego Clone of Baihe—a custom-made Ice Ego! With it, she was able to strengthen Snow’s power by replacing her to an extent, making the Ice Wolf even stronger than before, his ice powers reaching completely ridiculous levels.
The other Immortals, Machines, and Undead joined forces. The Undead were the ones that stood on the frontlines and got the most hits. After Anna’s Specialization Evolution, the Undead were able to evolve into even stronger draconic forms, becoming gigantic in size and also becoming much more durable. Anna prioritized their durability and health rather than their attack power, as she used them as “unliving meat shields,” as she called them, using them to minimize the damage that the other fighters could take and making them essentially moving walls to take on hits. Their attacks were, of course, good enough when gathered together, forming their barricades, dealing great chip damage that constantly accumulated, making the killing of enemy machines faster and easier.
“I guess they’re handling things on their own! We have to hurry!” Yin Sheng said. “Wai Tian! Let’s go, don’t lose focus.”
“A-Ah, right!” Wai Tian grew worried as she glanced at the rest of the Immortals fighting, as she could swear she saw a few Tigers similar to the people of her clan within the large group of fighters. “I have to concentrate on what’s in front of me!”
As this happened, the two Primordial Beasts remained outside as well. They were too huge to fit inside the Mechanical Tree, but they were working constantly, using their massive bodies as gigantic targets for the machines to surround them and attack them, wasting time and strength. At the same time, their very presences continuously made the world of Bestia grow stronger, their Heavens beginning to slowly reform anew, as various colorful clouds started to form a gigantic ocean above the blue sky.
“ELIMINATE THEM!”
“DESTROY THE GIANT BEASTS.”
The robots constantly tried to attack the Primordial Beasts, but not even their largest machines, the Titan Chimera Machines, could be a match for them, as they blew into pieces the moment they faced the Primordial Beasts’ radiance. In fact, if they attacked the Mechanical Tree directly, they would be able to destroy quite a lot of it, if it weren’t because Zero One didn’t want that to happen, as she needed to talk with her Mother and confront her.
“I can sense it; Mother’s Core is over there!” Zero One said, moving her giant mech with her sisters as her team followed her right behind. However, their path there wasn’t going to be easy, as massive swarms of machines started coming from everywhere, quickly surrounding them as they ran.
“Now what?! We’ve literally entered the nest itself! We’re going to get mauled to death, dammit!”
Uroboros was pissed off like nobody else, opening his jaws to devour the machines in large chunks and then releasing blazing breath once he swallowed them, burning their metals into fuel for his powerful attacks.
“There’s still hope; we’re so close! We have to keep pushing through!”
Yu Mingzhu didn’t give up, expanding golden barriers with her abilities and releasing beams of light from her hands, constantly blocking hits and blowing up several robots at the same time, working as a great support for the heavy hitters.
“She’s not wrong; we literally have no other choice now! It’s either that or we die!”
Wai Tian nodded, her blazing claws rampaging through her foes. As she used her Charge Skill to run quickly through short bursts, blowing away foes before they could learn how to respond or retaliate against her.
“Zero One! You have to rush there with one of Anna’s Egos! We’re almost there!”
Yin Sheng said, running as quickly as he could to catch up with the rest. His Shadow Clones rampaged through his surroundings, leaving behind black flames that exploded like landmines upon being touched.
“He’s right! Please go ahead!”
Sara turned into a ghostly specter, passing through her foes’ physical forms and destroying their insides. As she moved through swarms of machines, they exploded consecutively one after another. She had almost completely mastered her new ghostly powers by now.
“I’ll go with them then!”
Bastet suddenly ran through the battlefield, leaping over the robots coming after her gracefully. Her beautiful, brown-skinned body; golden fur around her legs and arms; cute, cat-like ears; golden eyes; and long, blonde hair waved as she moved. Her metallic claws tore her foes apart, while her red-colored mirror on top of her head—an imitation of the original Ra’s Mirror—blew through foes with gigantic sunlight beams.
FLUOSH!
She quickly turned into a giant golden cat, leaping over Zero One’s robot and firing sunlight beams at her foes, stopping the robots from swarming the sisters.
“B-But everyone…!” Zero One hesitated, but her sisters didn’t.
“GO!”
“MOVE!”
Zero Two and Zero Three pushed the robot to move, as the giant mech rushed across a battlefield of countless robots dying constantly, which by itself was like a nightmare to the softhearted Zero One.
“This has to end now…! Mother! Why are you making our kind sacrifice themselves to this extent?! Do you relish the thought of seeing them die over and over again?! T-This has to end right now!”
As she regained her will to fight once she saw her sisters’ unrelenting willpower, Zero One spoke her heart. The giant robot and Bastet broke through the last line of defense, reaching a massive hall where the Mechanical Tree’s Core was located.
CRAAASH!
“So you’ve made it here… Welcome back, Zero One.”
