Djet-Ka was being cornered, with Ra showcasing immense power and Merneith easily overpowering his two Divine Mechanical Soldiers, he was having no other options than escape without his Machine God and then get sentenced to a lifetime in prison or to death… or continue fighting here and risk everything he had.
Thankfully, before coming here, he had been given something, a gift that was both special and unique, but that could also prove to be dangerous if not used correctly. A powerful “magical artifact” forged by the humans from another parallel world, the first one the Ancient Egyptians conquered after using the Timeline Portal provided by the Saurians.
In this world, similar to the one where Merneith had landed accidentally with several other members of the Imperial Family, humanity was “stable” in a modern society of sorts. Computers, electricity, modern bathrooms, TV, and the countries were mostly all the same.
Except for something, this special “magical artifact” that existed only in this world and nowhere else, strange card-shaped items that granted even stranger powers to those that wielded them.
“Djet, make sure to never use this deck of cards unless you’re driven to a corner and have no other option than to gamble your own life… Well, this deck is very powerful; unless you’re fighting someone equally knowledgeable about such cards, it shouldn’t be hard for you to win and defeat them. However, it’s better to never mess too much with them, understood? We’ve seen firsthand what they can do to those that misuse them.”
“Yes, your majesty.”
He could still remember when the Emperor himself gave him the deck of cards, one of many he had within his possessions now, confiscated from the “strongest card duel masters” in that parallel Earth, who had defeated dozens of soldiers using them before they were captured and imprisoned.
Despite the fear he had with using such powerful artifacts, Djet had no other option, trapping all his foes within the space inside the Card Duel Arena, materialized upon challenging someone to a Card Duel using a whole deck of these cards.
“Hahahaha! I-It worked! You’re done for!”
As he laughed, he saw several numbers appear above everyone trapped in here, although only the “humans” were seen as Players. Only Merneith, Hekita, and the Divine Machine Soldiers received strange titles as “Players” above their heads.
Meanwhile, Ra and Khnum were cataloged as “Summoned Beasts” and were placed by the side of Djet for Khnum and by the side of Merneith for Ra.
Still confused about what was happening, Djet took the first turn for himself, smiling viciously as he took four cards from his deck, which was floating right by his side.
“It’s my turn! I summon Golden Fire Dragon in Attack Position and directly attack your Life Points!”
Djet laughed like a maniac as he realized one of the cards he obtained was already a strong one. Without hesitating, he grabbed it and then flipped the card to reveal what resembled a golden-scaled dragon imprinted into it.
There was some strange text beneath it, written in some sort of Earth language that Merneith nor Hekita could read from so far away; it was an instant, however, as the card suddenly released a flash of bright light, manifesting a gigantic golden dragon encompassed by holy flames, roaring ferociously.
“ROOOAAARRR!”
The dragon, over ten meters in height, roared with a powerful and overwhelming aura, making Merneith and Hekita step back in awe.
“D-Did he just summon a dragon out of nowhere?!” Hekita cried. “What’s going on!?”
“I have no idea! This isn’t something that came from my world!” Merneith said. “Could it be?! Are they employing powers and objects from other worlds they’ve already conquered already?!”
“BURN THEIR LIFE POINTS!”
As the girls talked, Djet roared furiously; without letting them have any time to even process what was happening, the golden dragon opened its giant, metallic jaws, unleashing a devastating dragon breath against them.
FLUOSH!
As the flames approached them, Merneith quickly moved, placing herself in front of Hekita to protect her with her golden and green-colored armor.
But then Ra did the same, using his own metallic body as a shield.
BOOOMMM!!!
The explosion was strong, but the flames never reached the girls.
“Ah! Ra?!”
Merneith noticed the numbers above Ra suddenly going down by almost half!
[RA’S LIFE POINTS: 10.000 -> 6.150]
“He’s fine? But the Life Points went down… What does that mean? Will he die if he reaches zero? That doesn’t make any sense, though,” Merneith wondered.
“Anubis!” Hekita said, quickly summoning Anubis by her side, who was also cataloged as a “Summoned Beast” and given ten thousand life points.
In fact, everyone had the exact number of life points, ten thousand…
“Hmph, looks like they reacted quite quickly; that damned Ra got in the way…!” Djet-Ka groaned to himself. “No matter, I simply have to crush them quickly…!”
He quickly glanced at the timer; his turn was over. After using one of these cards, he would have to wait five seconds before being able to use another one. Although this was only within the rules of the “informal card duel,” there was a more formal card game where each player had to announce their turn was over. Informal Card Duels were designed to be fast-paced and even very chaotic, which most Players didn’t like.
To Djet, five seconds was nothing; with Khnum and his recently summoned Dragon here to defend him, he could stall for time until he unleashed enough destructive forces to crush his foes!
“I don’t know what’s going on, but we have to quickly defeat Djet!” Hekita said. “Anubis!”
“Yeah, this is just getting weirder and weirder!” Merneith nodded. “Ra!”
The two girls quickly jumped over their robots as the two metallic giants rushed towards Djet.
“Golden Dragon! Khnum! Defend me!”
Djet roared as both of his Beasts roared in unison, rushing towards Ra and Anubis.
CLAAASH!
BOOOM!
Explosions of golden flames and powerful divine water clashed against the solar light of Ra and Anubis’ darkness.
“Two more seconds…!”
Djet glanced at the cards in his hand, grabbing one of them that interested him the most, which would quickly help him turn the entire table to his favor.
