The Heavenly Martial Empress Chapter 272: Kindness

-----

“Starting with a “thank you” could work pretty well, don’t you think?”

Suddenly, Bloodclaw appeared behind Athena, already having been healed by Bing Xue.

“L-Lady Bloodclaw?!”

“Thank you? You mean we should thank her?”

“Ahhh… yes… right.”

The three Saurians glanced back at Athena and thanked her.

“Thank you…”

“Thanks…”

“I don’t know what you did with that light, but it sure was flashy… Thanks, lass.”

“Heheh! You guys were a bit scary at first, but you’re pretty reasonable people!” Athena giggled.

“S-Scary?”

“Do I look that scary?”

“What? Of course you do! You’re always with that big frown.”

“Eh?!”

Once she listened to them speaking and even talking with each other, Athena quickly learned that Saurians were not that different from humans.

Although they had different cultures and their values diverged in some cases, they were still people that worked together to survive, had families and friends, and worked to protect their beloved ones.

Orion quickly did the same, healing a group of five people with his Heavenly Light of Healing Technique, a Spiritual Art that her mother taught her.

“Oooh?”

“Am I healed?!”

“But I could swear my spine was broken…”

“Huh?! The leg I lost back then is back?!”

“T-That kid…! He’s… a monkey kid?”

“Monkey?! I’m not a monkey!” Orion said angrily. “I’m a human… wolf beast person!”

“O-Oh…”

“I understand…”

“Wait, is that something that exists?”

“I think so? I have never visited Earth before.”

“Aaaah… Thank you.”

Some were quite clueless about everything, others were rather quick to learn things, and others would never stop asking anything.

FLASH!

Kalana and Rainbow Eyes combined their powers, unleashing a wave of light that healed a large group of dozens of Saurians at once.

“W-We’re fine?”

“My tiredness is gone…”

“Those children saved us?”

“We shouldn’t have hissed at them…”

“They might have saved us, but we don’t know their real intentions!”

“They’re so small they remind me of hatchlings; there’s no way they’re evil.”

“Heheh, I’m glad you’re feeling better!” Kalana giggled.

“Huh, I didn’t expect them to talk this way… Aren’t they much better at speaking than Mom’s tribe?” Rainbow Eyes wondered.

As everything happened, Redeye glanced in awe, as these people, the “dumb monkeys from Earth” began healing her people without asking for anything in return other than a “thank you”.

“W-Why…?”

As she saw her body rapidly healing by Bing Xue’s hands, she glanced at her with disbelief.

“Why what?”

“I thought we were enemies… I… don’t understand…”

“Who said we were enemies?”

“The… higher-ups, society. Since I was born, I was told that the monkeys were savages.”

“First of all, we’re humans… well, mostly. Not monkeys. There might be a half-orc there and also half-wolf beast people, but we’re all partially human—except Hekita, but she got the human spirit.”

“Yeah!”

“There are many more tribes than I imagined…” Redeye sighed. “I… honestly don’t know what to do now. Lord Djet-Ka tried to kill me, and he might try again… I wouldn’t even know where to escape.”

“Then join us, Redeye,” Bloodclaw said. “I’m sorry if I caused this, but this would have happened to you eventually. It’s pretty sure that dung-eating bastard has no qualms with killing his own allies.”

“That is not… wrong,” Redeye sighed, as she slowly stood up, accepting Bing Xue’s hand, which was much softer and gentler than her large claws. She looked at Bing Xue’s bright eyes and her Aura. “You’re… are you the goddess Bloodclaw talked about?”

“I… suppose so,” Bing Xue nodded. “I only want peace, that’s all. Would you help me out, Redeye?”

Bing Xue’s healing techniques also had therapeutic effects on the mind, calming negative emotions and helping people think more deeply and calmly, without letting their anger consume them.

This way, the Saurians, and even Redeye, were able to accept things much better and even became a bit more friendly.

“I don’t have any other option, I suppose… Will I be your slave?” Redeye sighed.

“Of course not! You’re going to be a citizen, haha! Why a slave? I don’t do such things,” Bing Xue laughed. “We’re no savages here. We’ll treat people like people.”

“…” Redeye’s big eyes shone brightly as she heard Bing Xue’s inspiring words.

Despite how different they looked to one another, she couldn’t help but feel a slight level of devotion already.

Has she ever seen someone so strong and yet so benevolent?

“Thank you… I’ll follow you if I must; it’s my only chance after all… And Bloodclaw, don’t think this is over. We’ll have another talk later.”

“A-Ah! Okay…”

As this happened, in the middle of the ruins, the battle between Khnum and Ra reached its climax, as the Machine God groaned, one of its arms being torn apart by Ra’s blazing spear.

CLAAASH!

Khnum was being constantly pushed back; the Machine God was unable to overcome the new strength that Ra had forged through his time with Merneith on Earth.

“D-Dammit! The Machine Soldiers are losing, and even Khnum is about to be destroyed!”

Djet stepped back, glancing at the portal and thinking about escaping…

But that wouldn’t do; he would receive the death penalty if he lost something as precious as a Machine God!

“Ah, dammit! I’ll have to use that thing they gave me from the world we recently conquered!”

He quickly took out something from his floating pyramid-shaped storage bot, a set of red and black colored cards.

Each card showed strange images, monsters, objects, or even people, and engraved on them were words made of strange runes, with numbers and classifications.

“How do you use these things again—Aaah!”

He panicked as he saw another of Khnum’s arms being torn apart; Ra was approaching him with blazing fury!

“Shit, shit, shit! A-Ahh!” He began mumbling something until he shouted. “I-Initiate Card Duel! I challenge all of you to a Card Duel!”

TRUUUM!

Suddenly, space warped around them, as Ra, Merneith, Djet, the Machine Soldiers, Hekita, and Khnum were encased inside a spatial box.

Numbers appeared above each one of them: Life Points.

“Eh?” Hekita looked around. “W-What’s going on?”

As they were confused, Djet smiled as he laughed.

“Hahahaha! I-It worked! You’re done for! It’s my turn! I summon Golden Fire Dragon in Attack Position and directly attack your Life Points!”

Djet laughed like a maniac, flipping one of his cards to reveal what resembled a golden-scaled dragon imprinted into it.

The card released a flash of light, manifesting a gigantic golden dragon encompassed by divine flames, roaring ferociously, and unleashing a deadly breath against everyone!

“ROOOAAARRR!”

FLUOOOSH!
