CATCH ME IF YOU CAN - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Catch Me If You Can! This was such a fun watch with such a great cast!! Everything that happened in this movie was WILD (the story is now heavily disputed, but if even a fraction of the story is true, it is still WILD). Enjoy!

Addie I'm honestly impressed at how clearly you viewed Frank's character throughout the movie. It's so easy to get sucked in and view it all from Frank's perspective, but you kept "stepping out" and remarking about how everything he said was a lie and he would always leave behind everybody around him when his con collapsed. I can't think of anybody else I know who remained so clear-headed. Even I sometimes lose that perspective on rewatch, because of how charming he is. As others in the comments have noted, the story is pretty much 100% false. The real-life Frank's crimes were petty and vulgar: He'd come over to somebody's house for dinner, and while there he would steal their checkbook and cash checks on their accounts. Things like that. The amounts he stole were big for the people he stole them from, but not a fortune, because he was stealing from individual families and not from corporations. He was also caught and jailed over and over again, because he just wasn't very good at it. He didn't escape from jail, either; he was just let out because his sentences were short due his youth and because his father kept promising to keep him in control. He did pose as a doctor and airline pilot, but only to people not in that profession. If you walk up to somebody on the street and say "Hi, I'm a lawyer" they'll say "Wow, that's cool" and move on. They don't ask to see your references. He never tried the con on people who would actually know about the field, or needed any supporting documents.

I dont care if its true or not, even tho I dont watch it as a "true story" anymore its still such an incredibly enjoyable movie.

John Williams was openly channeling Henry Mancini when he wrote this score. The animated sequence at the beginning is an homage to the animations that accompanied the Pink Panther comedies of the 60s and 70s, and that was the energy Spielberg was going for in Catch Me If You Can.

Pretty much 100% of his story was BS. The only con he ever pulled was convincing Hollywood that he was a con man.
