SICARIO - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Sicario! This one was INTENSE, but I'm so glad that I've watched it! The cast was incredible in this! I'm also planning on watching The Usual Suspects (second place in the latest poll) here soon. Enjoy!

Some more Taylor Sheridan... there's Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021) with Angelina Jolie. Some great wilderness firefighter scenes and a murder plot (obviously). Good movie.

Major Peril

A very intense and heavy movie. One that weighs heavy on your mind and heart, I’m glad to have watched this reaction with you.

David Lucas

Addie that was an awesome reaction to one of the best thrillers I know of!! I would like to recommend another film to you where Benicio Del Toro plays the villain and Tommy Lee Jones plays the protagonist: The Hunted (2003). Very good movie that I think you would enjoy. Also curious to know if you have any martial arts polls on the horizon. I'd love to see you watch some Jackie Chan, some Jet Li, perhaps some Zhang Ziyi......

Day of the Soldado is a solid sequel. I feel like if they had got to make the third one it would get more respect. It suffers a bit of middle movie syndrome, with a lot of stuff being set up that doesn’t get paid off. I want to see Alejandro and Matt facing off on opposite sides… ah, well.

Jacob King

Because nothing is resolved and they get away with it?

Jacob King

Good reaction. I think you understood the movie correctly. I’ve seen a number of reviewers/reactors miss that Matt and Alejandro are not the good guys. It’s probably not great that the actors are so darn likeable. The first time I saw this I went in completely blind, I had a free ticket at a film festival, and it blew me away. The bridge scene is so intense. My interpretation of this movie is that it’s really about the war on terror and how fighting these undefined wars twists you into a reflection of your enemies. My favourite line is when the Mexican agent says to Alejandro, “I’m sorry about what happened to you.” On one level his wife and child have been killed but on another level he’s about to torture a chained up prisoner. It’s all pretty grim.

When Kate and Reggie are at the Phoenix FBI Field Office, the higher ranking special agents are meeting with Matt. They say that he's a Department of Defense advisor. During the scene, the table where they are sitting at, they're all drinking coffee but while the FBI agents are drinking out of mugs, Matt is drinking from a generic coffee shop cup. Also, Matt is dressed like a beach bum or business casual, hence the flip flops, meaning he's an outsider= CIA. One of my favorite movie lines, "To dramatically overact."

1) by killing the boss, that induces a struggle for succession of leadership in the cartel, causing infighting and additional casualties in the cartel without any added action need on the part of Josh Brolin's unit. 2) when Emily Blunt exited the tunnel and found Alejandro had shot the cartel man and had the Mexican police officer at gun point, she was in Mexico and as an US FBI Agent had no legal authority or police powers to arrest, detain, or do anything. In addition she had committed multiple crimes under Mexican law: crossing the border illegally, smuggling a firearm into Mexico, possession of an illegal firearm in Mexico, open-carrying a firearm in Mexico without a permit. So technically Alejandro was within his rights in Mexico to defend himself against a civilian foreigner threatening him and pointing a pistol at him. Emily's character should have known this. 3) The shootout in traffic was in between the Mexican and US Customs stations (having left Mexico, but not yet entered the US), and so was in a grey area of jurisdiction of either Mexico or the US, enough to keep a battalion of lawyers filing motions for years about whether any Mexican or US laws were broken. 4) the affidavit that Emily Blunt was forced to sign was technically true. She was only need for CIA operations _IN THE US_ , not for operations in Mexico. She did not witness the interrogations in the US, and everything else that they did _in the US_ was legal. All of the extra-legal stuff happened in Mexico.

I have to ask. Why did Addie thought that the ending was unsatisfying? I'm a bit confused.

Kyle Brandon Sanger

Addie is too jumpy. 😂

Mr. Writhms

Great movie, although now it's got me in the mood to rewatch Traffic (2000) at some point. That would be a good one for a future poll. 🙂

Doug

I’ve believed this ever since Silence of the Lambs but I think Addie would make a great FBI agent 😂

Julian San

Can't wait for Usual Suspects. Top 10 movie!

Nick Thousan

Honeslty denis villeneuve doesnt miss, would love for you to check out prisoners too if you havent seen that one

Rey

While it’s a great movie, Emily Blunt’s character has to be the most annoying person in the history of film 😂

Victor

Great flick! Looking forward to watching your reaction!

+1 for Wind River (with the two former Marvel stars).

Major Peril

This is one of my favorite films, a quadruple threat: Denis Villeneuve, Taylor Sheridan, an all-star cast, and Roger Deakins. This is a film that rewards you for paying attention and listening carefully. Also, environmental storyline is key. Believe it or not, there are those who believe that Kate is the villain of the story, and I'm in that camp. "Medellin' is a reference to the Medellin Cartel that was started and controlled by Pablo Escobar. It has been rumored that Escobar was an asset to the CIA unbeknownst to the DEA, they weren't happy. Everyone keeps secrets. Also, the word 'spook' is terminology for spy or an intelligence operative who works in the shadows, a shadow agent. Alejandro Gillick is one of the best characters I've seen in a film and he's portrayed brilliantly by Benecio del Toro. Oh, I almost forgot, the famous border crossing sequence, Villeneuve and Sheridan covertly give away what's going to happen during the mission briefing with Delta Force, FBI, CIA, U.S. Marshalls, if shit hits the fan, its going to be at the border, and it wasn't a lie, the explosion of violence happens at the border.

The Frontier Trilogy is my favorite! (Sicario, Wind River, Hell Or High Water) 🙌

Chris Shine

One of my favourite movies of all time.

Daniel Karlsson

Thank you Addie! Can't wait to watch

...and if you REALLY want more intense movies, then I suggest the Christopher Nolan movies Dunkirk (2017) & Tenet (2020) and the Michael Bay movie Ambulance (2022). #MoreIntenseMoviesForAddieCounts

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is a great movie with a great cast. Glad that you liked it. And I'm already looking forward to your reaction for "The Usual Suspects". Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving Sicario (2015)! 👏👏 Happy Wednesday, and again, chúc mừng năm mới (happy lunar new year's day). I'm so glad that you watched this movie. Of course it's intense, but as an action junkie, this is one ride that I'll take. I did watch this movie in preparation for its sequel, Day of the Soldado (2018) and now I'm suggesting it to you. #SicarioDayOfTheSoldadoForAddieCounts https://youtu.be/BtbeDRNDVnk?feature=shared See you soon for The Usual Suspects (1995).
