Armageddon yes let's go

2023-11-12 08:47:38 +0000 UTCYes Armageddon is awesome. I don't care what the Deep Impact enthusiasts say, it's by far my favorite of the two.

2023-11-09 07:45:47 +0000 UTCThank you so much for adding Tenet (2020). It's one of my favorite Christopher Nolan movies and I do hope that Addie watches it someday. #TenetForAddieCounts

2023-11-09 05:48:27 +0000 UTCThe thing that baffles me most is that Addie now has over 800 patrons here, but yet there are only just over 500 votes in this poll so far... and I guarantee you that many people - including myself - cast multiple votes -- which can't help but make me wonder why the fuck anyone would join a Patreon if they didn't want to have some kind of genuine voice in what the reactor in question ends up watching?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 19:00:09 +0000 UTCSome great films on list which will not win but i hope in time Addie watches a few so i can only keep my fingers crossed to join in on a watch along soon. 😘 PS We all seem to like the same films in the comments section but not the votes🤔

2023-11-08 17:26:36 +0000 UTCHopefully you do a poll regarding straight pure action movies. My suggestions include Speed (1994), The Rock (1996), Con Air (1997), Ronin (1998), Enemy of the State (1998) & Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). Feel free to add others to the mix as well.
Alex Tan
2023-11-08 17:22:34 +0000 UTCGreat list! Can't believe I overlooked some of these. I'm going to delete "E.T." then and include "Forbidden Planet". If you don't mind, I'm going to cherry-pick some of your titles and add them to the list above so they can be readily seen.
Alex Vazquez
2023-11-08 12:54:07 +0000 UTCAdmittedly, my only familiarity with "Dune" is having seen the last third of David Lynch's '84 adaptation when it was on TV one time. Given that it's definitely not considered the best presentation of the IP (not to mention it being almost universally considered Lynch's weakest film), I'm probably not the best advise on which to go. Even so, it still made me not feel compelled to pursue this apparently much more faithful adaptation. I do love "Arrival," though.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 12:33:08 +0000 UTCI would categorize Armageddon and Deep Impact as more disaster movies and maybe insert something like District 9 (2009), Oblivion (2013), Contact (1997), The Abyss (1989), Elysium (2013).

2023-11-08 12:14:44 +0000 UTCSci-fi is a hypothetical look into the future of our own society -- often presented in the form of a cautionary tale. Traditional fantasy is a story set in a completely fictitious world not meant to be our own (though *modern* fantasy like Harry Potter muddies those waters a bit).
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 12:03:12 +0000 UTCI second The Black Hole (1979). It's also the very first PG-rated Disney movie.
Alex Tan
2023-11-08 11:26:13 +0000 UTCMy belief is that people either want to see her get grossed out after watching The Thing (1982) or watch another Paul Verhoeven movie after Total Recall (1990).
Alex Tan
2023-11-08 11:24:51 +0000 UTCSee what I mean @David Crabtree. Addie formed her own opinion and disregarded what anyone said when she said that she enjoyed The Greatest Showman (2017) & Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). And on top of that, Cassie from PiB is about to watch 13 Hours this week.
Alex Tan
2023-11-08 11:21:39 +0000 UTCArrival has one of the silliest ending lines, it basically ruined the rest of the movie for me.
sarCC
2023-11-08 10:08:46 +0000 UTCNo i completely agree with you
Milsr09
2023-11-08 09:40:34 +0000 UTC... which are the 3 weakest titles on the list for me (well, it's a toss-up between "Deep Impact" and "Robocop" for #3). 🤷♂️
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:53:47 +0000 UTCI like "The Rock" as a guilty pleasure movie, but I frankly can't stand any of his other movies.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:51:36 +0000 UTCYes, alas, like "The Goonies," "Blade Runner" somehow keeps ending up always being a bridesmaid in these polls. 🤷♂️
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:49:47 +0000 UTCShe needs to see the '68 original first.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:48:10 +0000 UTC- *all* of the "Mad Max" movies (well, I personally don't care about "Fury Road," but I know a lot of other people do) - "Fahrenheit 451" - "The Andromeda Strain" - "The Omega Man" - "Silent Running" - "Slaughterhouse-Five" - "Z.P.G." - "Soylent Green" - "Dark Star" - "The Terminal Man" - "Rollerball" (1975) - "The Man Who Fell to Earth" - "Logan's Run" - "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" - "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978) - "The Black Hole" - "Altered States" - "Outland" - "The Last Starfighter" - "Cocoon" - "The Quiet Earth" - "Enemy Mine" - "The Fly" (1986) - "The Handmaid's Tale" - "Contact" - "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" - "Solaris" (1972 & 2002) - "Code 46" - "The Final Cut" - "Children of Men" - "Blindness" - "Moon" - "The Road" - "The Adjustment Bureau" - "Source Code" - "Prometheus" - "Gravity" - "Snowpiercer" - "Under the Skin" - "Ex Machina" - "Z for Zachariah" - "Passengers" (2016) BTW, she's already seen "E.T." -- it was one of her very first reactions... but along with 3 other movies ("Ghostbusters," "Beetlejuice," and "Edward Scissorhands"), she apparently lost the files containing her full reactions to these movies. But I certainly wouldn't mind her eventually doing re-watches of all of them at some point to make up for it.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:47:00 +0000 UTCWhile I'd prefer you finishing the "Kung Fu Panda" and "Godfather" trilogies before moving on to anything else (maybe finally that last "Beverly Hills Cop" movie as well), at least most of these are standalone movies... and those that aren't probably aren't going to win. But "Starship Troopers," folks? Really?? 🤷♂️
Byrd N. Hand
2023-11-08 07:31:21 +0000 UTCI know I'm very much in the minority, but I found both "Arrival" and "Dune" to be extremely boring. They each had good things going for them ("Arrival" has a very interesting premise and "Dune" is beautifully shot), but I found myself losing interest. Maybe I'll change my mind with a rewatch (looking at the current poll numbers, we'll likely get one or both in the not too distant future).
Luis Fernandez
2023-11-08 05:25:23 +0000 UTCThe Dune novels are the Lord of the Rings of sci-fi novels, and the 2021 Dune movie is the LotR of sci-fi movies.
Richard Maurer
2023-11-08 04:58:44 +0000 UTCI should also add Gattaca (1997), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), Paycheck (2003), In Time (2011) & The Creator (2023) to the mix. #MoreSciFiForAddieCounts
Alex Tan
2023-11-08 01:54:16 +0000 UTCMore like disaster movies, since the threat in both movies-- though improbable-- are very real science.
Mr. Writhms
2023-11-07 23:06:38 +0000 UTCSci fi is a umbrella of fantasy lol
LightsCameraJake
2023-11-07 21:26:44 +0000 UTCSc-fi fantasy maybe? lol
Mike Adams
2023-11-07 21:01:53 +0000 UTCI feel like Deep Impact and Armageddon are out of place in this list. They are not really sci-fi despite the story lines.

2023-11-07 20:19:31 +0000 UTCI know right. Now I got another reason why I've been pushing for Addie to watch Michael Bay movies.

2023-11-07 19:40:40 +0000 UTCRegardless of online rhetoric, most people like Michael Bay movies, he's the 5th highest grossing director of all time.
David Crabtree
2023-11-07 19:39:13 +0000 UTCOne of my all time favorite films!
David Crabtree
2023-11-07 19:32:54 +0000 UTCGreat start to a fantastic trilogy.

2023-11-07 19:00:07 +0000 UTCOh no. You can't get more science fiction than Planet of the Apes. The whole premise is science fiction.
Mr. Writhms
2023-11-07 18:51:40 +0000 UTCYou forgot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. But I guess that would be more of a Drama I guess.

2023-11-07 18:30:39 +0000 UTCMe too. I'm in favor of that movie. #Armageddon1998ForAddieCounts

2023-11-07 18:24:49 +0000 UTCAbsolutely voting for Armegeddon. Just love Bruce Willis 💙 ❤️

2023-11-07 18:21:02 +0000 UTCOh god… Science Fiction, my favorite genre. These polls always make me crazy. lol With the profile picture I am displaying, it HAS to be “Blade Runner” every time. But if you can find it in your heart to react to every movie on the poll, it would be greatly appreciated. 😁 And as your unofficial, non-appointed Patreon Poll lawyer, I must suggest: if “Blade Runner” enters the schedule, your go-to must be the ever-popular, readily available “Final Cut” version. If you choose the theatrical cut, my loyalty will come into question. I may unsubscribe from your channel by the year 2049. 😉
Mr. Writhms
2023-11-07 18:10:12 +0000 UTCYay! We're finally past the October horror movies and into a gene that I love! 😁
Phil Stubblefield
2023-11-07 18:03:34 +0000 UTCGreat list! My top 3 picks are Armageddon, Starship Troopers, and Robocop.
David Crabtree
2023-11-07 17:48:38 +0000 UTCWait, has Addie not seen Armageddon?! These are all great, and Deep impact is like the thinking mans Armageddon but that movie still holds up as an amazing adrenaline fueled popcorn ride.
Getoff Mylawn
2023-11-07 17:47:40 +0000 UTCOnly one on this list that I don’t care for as much is “Armageddon”; although it’s still decent enough. In terms of “crazy over the top” movies, give me those from Paul Verhoeven any day of the week before those from Michael Bay.
Laxjedi
2023-11-07 17:28:07 +0000 UTCmy picks are Arrival and Dune but i feel like Blade Runner gotta come first just bc of its influence over the entire sci fi genre

2023-11-07 17:23:46 +0000 UTCI wish I could "like" this list more than once. :)

2023-11-07 17:19:22 +0000 UTCArrival is really good and I think you would like it a lot!!
Ed Garland
2023-11-07 17:17:48 +0000 UTCDefinitely ROBOCOP since you loved TOTAL RECALL so much(and also because it's a perfect movie).

2023-11-07 17:17:16 +0000 UTC3rd on the Arrival

2023-11-07 17:13:41 +0000 UTCOut of all of these deep impact seems best!
Randolph Tirazona
2023-11-07 17:10:32 +0000 UTCSpeaking of Michael Bay, (I don't care what anyone says) I also suggest Bad Boys (1995), The Rock (1996), Pearl Harbor (2001) and Bad Boys II (2003), all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as The Island (2005), Transformers (all five films), Pain & Gain (2013), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), 6 Underground (2019) and Ambulance (2022). #MoreMichaelBayForAddieCounts

2023-11-07 17:07:32 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 Some really great choices for this poll. I voted for "Armageddon". But honestly it came down to a four way tie between that movie, "Arrival", "Blade Runner", and "Starship Troopers". It was so hard to choose between those four. LOL! I almost voted for "Tron" because I love the sequel. Looking forward to seeing which movie wins. Have a great day today! 😊
Randee Carreno
2023-11-07 17:07:16 +0000 UTCI selected - Deep Impact - Arrival - Starship Troopers
Mannygogou
2023-11-07 17:07:11 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but my vote goes for Armageddon (1998), produced by Jerry Bruckheimer & directed by Michael Bay.
Alex Tan
2023-11-07 17:06:33 +0000 UTCGreat choices. RoboCop and Starship Troopers by Paul Verhoeven are great. Suggestion: King Kong (2005) by Peter Jackson.
Marko T.
2023-11-07 17:04:22 +0000 UTCDefinitely had to vote for Dune because it is an absolute masterpiece and the sequel comes out early next year. I also had to put a vote in for Tron because I don't think it gets nearly enough love. The original 1982 film definitely feels dated but I love it all the same. Plus I think you'd really enjoy the sequel, Tron: Legacy.
Patrick Egan
2023-11-07 17:04:19 +0000 UTCStart with 'Blade Runner' so you can get through Denis Villeneuve's films and eventually watch 'Dune'. His films are amazing, not just the films themselves, but some of the shots in his films are just incredible to look at.
QuigonJim25
2023-11-07 17:03:32 +0000 UTCI second that Arrival is amazing.

2023-11-07 17:02:05 +0000 UTCArrival is amazing 🙌
