X2 - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to X2! Ooooooh, this one was GOOD! It left me with a lot of questions of what will come next, and I'm so excited to find out! Enjoy!

X2 - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

Brian Cox, who plays Stryker, is my all time favorite villain actor. He does have a non villain role in one movie that I'll bring up later in the year. The big guy who had the cool body armor, that would be Colossus! He and Wolverine have an outstanding attack they team up to do. The Fastball Special. Something you would like. Your surprised reaction with the tent scene. One of your best! Happy to hear you'll be continuing on with more X-Men movies. Take care, Addie!!

X2 is such a great movie. The intro especially still holds up so well, even today. I hope you get to Days of Future Past & Logan since they're also great as well.

KJ

It's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. It's actually very good IMO. Much better than a lot of phase 4 MCU stuff.

Steve SG-1

I'm super happy you enjoyed this movie! So firstly Professor X didn't freeze time no. He simply "froze" the minds of all the people themselves. As you saw, the woman's radio was still working, and the TV was still broadcasting when everyone was frozen. So simply the brains of all people he targeted were forced to stand still, not being able to perceive anything going on. Yeah... Xavier is an incredibly powerful mutant 😅 Jeans glowing eyes were new to this movie. Something involved with her struggling to control her powers. Seemingly she can perform really powerful feats during these moments. I'll leave the ending up to your interpretation... Yeah I really felt bad for the woman with the nail claws (Named Lady Deathstrike in the comics) she was under control and she didn't even want to do these things. It hurt when she died because the mind control wore off and she woke up, just to be forever trapped in Adamantium. Also... Wolverine isn't immortal. The reason he came back after being shot in the head was because remember, his entire skeleton is covered with Adamantium, an indestructible metal. So the bullet never even penetrated through his skull to his brain. Logan is exceptionally hard to kill because of this, plus his insane healing factor. Stryker was a really good villain in this movie too. You hated him, but it was really well performed and was really effective as doing menacing things. Nightcrawler is a really cool mutant, and I love the conversation between him and Mystique. It sheds on the whole conflict between mutants and humans. Obviously mutants really draw parallels with real life struggles people deal with. Being different. Representing the fear people are faced with that are gay, colored, born with mental defects, etc. Stan Lee even mentioned the X-Men are meant to teach people that "Being different isn't something you should be shamed for. Being different means you're special." I feel for mystique because I can't imagine the ridicule she must've gone through, along with Nightcrawler, simply because they look different. Mutants and the humans who fear them is a huge deal in the comics as well and there's so many juicy stories with mutants. That's why people have wanted them to be introduced into the MCU for so long. There isn't a single mentioned of the word "mutant" deliberately for the first three phases. Theres characters you've already met in the MCU that are actually mutants in the comics, but because of the legal issues, companies owning the different rights to characters... they steer clear of mentioning them. But.....recently Disney has gotten the rights to mutants and the X-Men back from Fox so.... good news. They can now make stories involving mutants which opens an entire universe to explore, which I'm so excited for. Can't wait for X-Men 3!

I’ve never actually forced myself to sit through the third movie. Do people think the watchalong would make it worth it?

Alex Ch

Hey Addie. When you watch the next X-men movie be sure to watch the end credit scene

Hok'Tar

Your reaction/commentary was on point this movie!

Steve

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand then they ruin it in the next one. Ugh! This is a good one. Nightcrawler...the third of my three favorite X-Men...is awesome. Wolverine's rage fight in the mansion is pretty sweet. Professor X's full display of power is straight up bad-ass. And Jean's sacrifice/death is heartbreaking. It does annoy me that Cyclops disappears for three-quarters of the movie...but still. This is a good one.

Steve Mercier

Can't wait for you to reach the Deadpool movies (there is also multiple versions of these movies)

Hugh jackman is a good actor, but this is one of the many reasons why the X-Men movies missed the mark for me - I grew up reading these comics and they were the only friends I had as I moved so, so often as a kid. After the first 2 movies, none of the movies are enjoyable to me. These are the exact reason why the comic creators should have been in the room when they were being made. It's safe to say that these movies weren't really made with the comic book fans in mind.

The Dingo

The first movie did what it could given what studios likely would let a comic book movie do at the time and X2 is the best of the “X-Men” films with Deadpool 1&2 and Logan being the best of the X-verse. I think all the other films are skippable at best, painful in general, and hopefully the upcoming MCU treatment of mutants and the X-Men will wash them from my brain.

Ian Forbes

I agree. First Class is great.

Though I think the first movie is just okay, I do love that it brought my favorite Marvel characters to the big screen. X2 really showed what potential the characters and franchise had. Unfortunately...that quality goes downhill quick. Just my 2 cents, skip X3 and go straight into the soft reboot that is First Class. Follow that up with the masterpiece that is Days of Future Past and then pretend every other movie with an X-Men title doesn't exist. You'll save yourself some hours and pain. They're just bad. And if you do decide to watch them all, abandon all hope of continuity in this series because there is none.

Tony Sanson

Nice to see you continuing your X-Men journey. You have a long road ahead of you movie-wise. I would suggest that after the movies, you check out the TV show Legion, which is set in the X-Men universe. I thought it was a great show, even though I hated the final episode. The Gifted was another series set in that universe, but it was cancelled just as it was starting to get interesting so I'm not sure if it is worth watching.

Luis Fernandez

"How tall is Hugh Jackman?" Too tall. Wolverine is more than a foot shorter than Hugh Jackman, Him being this ugly short hairy wild man is important to his character. Hugh Jackman certainly made the character his own, but he's a far cry from the source material.

aarswft

That opening scene was the best X-MEN thing I'd seen in film until the first Deadpool movie.

sarCC

"When will these people learn how to fly" that line is actually a subtle dig at the comics because both jean & storm actually can fly.

Zack

Happy Monday, Addie. X2: X-Men United (2003) is an X-Cellent sequel to the first film.
