Mentally I am laying prone of the floor. Carla in the best, worst position.

It just gives me the icky feeling of whataboutism at best, and oppression Olympics at worst.

Someone made a similar comment yesterday, but this arc has been really hard at points because it seems to put opposition to genocide directly in competition with queer/trans joy. I.e. that characters who are brave enough to seek/embrace their love and truth in INDIANA (of all places), must feel guilty if it inadvertently takes attention away from stopping genocide. This has been discussed re: Joyce/Dorothy ad naseum (so I won't retread). And obviously there are characters who are managing both (to an extent) like Jocelyne but she is still more closeted than NOT and is TERRIFIED to come out to her parents (with VERY GOOD REASON). But having just attended a memorial for a trans woman who is Carla's age who took her own life because it's 2025 and she didn't see a future for herself even though her family is amazing and supportive, it is really hard to see loving parents of a trans kid placed in the position where they are (at best) oblivious enablers of genocide and their support of their trans kid MAY be contingent on whether or not Carla calls them out on it. I have faith that this will shake out good, but in the middle of it (especially with SOME of the comments I'm seeing) it's a little hard.
