What you said about Bakugo ties in with what I said last time. What does "being a superhero" mean? For me, it's at the same time a special relationship with PROTECTIVE POWER (not power alone), a certain respect for authority (police, army, politicians, etc) and moral values that you apply to yourself and that you try to share with the world around you. Bakugo understood that being as powerful as possible was important to being a hero. The problem is that until now, he's mostly shown us that he wanted to be better than his comrades (especially Deku and Shoto) to calm his inferiority complex. Does he really care about the image he gives to his comrades, to professional heroes or to the millions of people who watched him at the UA SPORT FESTIVAL? Of course not. That's not what concerns him lol. But it has direct consequences. The first being the fact that more hero agencies wanted Shoto than him for an internship. Whether we like it or not, being a superhero is not just a story of power. It's above all a story of exemplarity and a desire to protect those weaker than ourselves. That is why Bakugo is uncomfortable with Deku's personality. And we completely join Stain's crusade with this subject. Haven't the societies of the MHA world forgotten what made the heart of a hero? Some heroes are brave but what society expects of them pushes them to vanity, competition and profit. Especially when the image of all heroes benefits from a poster dude. Poster dude that acts as a nuclear shield in some way. Name of the phenomenon: ALL MIGHT. It's easy to not impose a certain discipline on yourself when you are convinced that All Might will always be there to protect the world and give a good image of the profession to the public. PS: I love that All Might and Gran Torino both told Deku that his examples to control One For All are boring (eggs or the microwave). But Deku says it's fine as long as it allows him to move forward. He's not here for the hype. His goal is to become the hero who protects, inspires and reassures with his smile.

Hmmm... the way I took what Jeanist was saying to Bakugo is less about specifically being a hero and more in general. Like: in context of what we've already seen; look at Endevour. Endevour is the Number 2 Hero; he's second only to All Might so he's clearly doing somethign right *as* a hero, but we've seen first hand how he treats his family. That part is not something to anyone should be admiring or look up to. I think that's what Jeanist is trying to get at; Bakugo doesn't need much training be a great hero, but doesn't mean he doesn't need to learn to be a better person by getting taught to care about things like... basic manners lol

Also, about your question on whether or not I'd care if the person who saved me was polite, yeah, kind of, or at least I would care if I was in this universe. You see, the role of a hero in this particular universe is not just rescuing people from underneath collapsed buildings and fighting villains, it's providing people with a general sense of comfort, and Bakugo's attitude provides, well, the opposite of that. I mean, it's one thing if the person he saves is a grown adult, or at least a teenager, because while it's still a bad look, it's not as bad as yelling at a, let's say, 9 year old girl to fuck off after she hugs you.

I just realized something. You could argue that Stain only succeeding in maiming Tensei is another interpretation of his epithet "The Hero Killer", because while he didn't literally kill Tensei, he DID manage to kill his hero career.
