Appa is 10 tons worth of Flying Bison. He's legit heavier and larger than the average African Elephant; consider everyone lucky that he *doesn't* have a mean streak unless his master is in danger; you are not stopping a creature like that going on a rampage without some serious firepower. Also, might want to dismiss the idea of Sokka ever being a water bender lol. It's not even a spoiler; it's literally just how the world works. It's physically impossible to learn bending in the Avatar world if you aren't a bender. You need to already have the capacity to do it by instinct, and *then* learn how to master and control it. Sokka is 15 right now. If he hasn't shown any natural ability in water-bending by this age; he's not a bender and everyone just has to accept that.
