Also the technique he's using to fight despite having a hole in him is the same one Glasses boy used against Clown Captain.

It was only the younger captains that jumped to using Ban-K. immediately, the older captains (who have probably fought "that race" before) like Shun and Uki didn't do that. Also, yeah the antagonist group is very religiously inspired, there is a lot more even more obvious biblical references to come, especially concerning the King.
