They are generally classified as ectoparasites (which lives off on the surface) and endoparasites (which lives inside the host). A parasite and a host could generally share different sorts of relationships. For example : 1. Mutualism : Here both the host and the parasite benefits from each other and can't live without each other. They are dependentant mutual for survival. 2. Commensalism : here one partner benefits while the other remains unaffected. 3. Parasitism : here one specie (parasite) benefits while the other specie (host) gets harmed. 4. Protocooperation : here both the species benefit from each other, however its not necessary for survival. Such partners can live in absence of the other as well. 5. Ammensalism : here one species remains unaffected while the other gets harmed. Now this is what I personally think about when I hear the word Parasite. Let's see how the anime goes about it and what sort of relationship would we get to see from the host (shinichi) and the parasyte. Btw it's my first time watching this show.
