I think you both would really love Boardwalk Empire, made by the same people who produce and wrote The Sopranos

Joseph Sanzone

Matthew Weiner is involved in both Sopranos and Mad Men. In terms of complexity and story telling style, there sure is a lot in common between the two masterpieces.

You just have to remember with the AJ stuff that this arc is about the effects of privilege and being spoilt during your upbringing. It shows how it won't prepare you for the real world. Obviously, this is also coupled with the depression that he has inherited from Tony. He is 'the second coming' but that depression and rage has taken a different form. With Tony and his generation, it's not something that they fully understand, as evidenced by the crew's conversation after the suicide attempt, and their generation would react with rage and violence towards others. Whereas the younger generations are more prone to self harm etc. I don't think I enjoyed the arc first time around either, but I was 15 and didn't understand what was happening. These episodes are extremely highly rated on IMDB, so def surprised by the reaction to this, but so much better upon rewatch anyway. Definitely watch Pure Kino's video titled 'A defence of AJ' when you're done with the show. I'm glad this stuff is part of the show, because if it was only mob warfare it would be nowhere near as interesting.

The Sopranos is one of my all-time favorite tv shows, but I don't think I've rewatched it all the way through since it aired until now. I love your reactions! I would like to suggest that you consider reacting to Mad Men in the future, one of my other favorite TV shows!

Seems like you guys aren't enjoying/taking as seriously the show as much as earlier seasons which is a shame. Everything that's happened with AJ is the consequence of the poor parenting you guys were warning about earlier. AJ is as much a consequence as Tony's lifestyle and parenting as Tony is a consequence of his father's lifestyle and his mother's parenting. Food for thought. Hope you guys enjoy the last two episodes.

Artie had the same storyline for the entire series. Cooking that rabbit was his closure- he finally rekindled his love for his craft and put the bs behind him.

Also, idk why you guys feel like characters are not getting closure and wrap-ups. Members Only wrapped up Eugene and to a lesser extent Raymond. Luxury Lounge wrapped up Artie and Charmaigne. All of season 6 was a wrap up for Vito. 6B so far, you got Bobby and Janice in Sopranos Home Movies. Johnny Sack in Stage 5. Paulie and Junior in Remember When. Hesh in Chasing It. Chris and JT in Walk Like A Man and Kennedy And Heidi. Not every character will have a perfect little bowtie ending, but the ones that are wrapping up; think about their lives. The misery, death and loneliness that has come with being associated with "The Sopranos" stemming all the way to Johnny and Livia and the mafia as a whole. These people go to more funerals in a year than most people do in their entire lives. I hope you guys enjoy the last two, it's been awesome watching the reactions and hearing your thoughts and ideas, I might do a rewatch with you guys for another show you did, also I recommend Succession for the next one, cheers!

These two had the most bizarre reaction to AJ 's suicide attempt. They talked through the thing, wise cracks, and laughed through the whole thing. I was looking forward to the reaction, but Jesus! Still my favorite reactors.

Corina Perez

lol.

This is the episode that started the long running Sopranos fan joke about how Phil transformed into a house.

Eric Posin

Yeah. I think that the whole mafia plot line is secondary to the main point of the show. Which is Tony's character development... or maybe, lack of development. Kind of like The Wire. Where on it's surface it is about these drug dealers, and cops etc but the true story is a broader point about a failing American city.

lol for real. They’re def not the first people to write off AJ and just want him off the screen by this point but all the scenes with tony trying to “save” him never fail to make me emotional. Telling him he’s a good person (not like him) after trying to knife junior or when he’s crying to melfi about AJ being depressed. “My rotten, putrid genes have infected my kids soul.” Juxtapose that with how callously he decides to end and give up on Christopher.

cheech

that was cool the way phil morphed into a house. i love the supernatural elements of the sopranos

Seeing the reaction to these last couple makes me even more excited for the finale 😂

If I think back to when I watched it the first time (it was live) I suppose I had similar feelings to you guys. Someone said it well last week, that we only have three more episodes why are we wasting time on some of this stuff. I'd say on rewatches it's important, but watching the first time you're more focused on plot stuff, more than deeper meaning and symbolism. With all that said, trust the last two episode's closure, and enjoy it, try not to stress about being worried about every little thing and character tying up.

Elledance

Man, I cry every time AJ jumps in—that whole sequence. Y'all clowning too much. :'(

bietz

I think it’s interesting that after Meadow talks to AJ, the next scene we see him resolved to do what he does next… you’re their son, you’ll always be more important.” I yhink

BLUE COMET

chobani .

Succession is Top 5 for me. Great acting and writing from everyone. You guys would kill the reactions too. Cant wait till you get to it!

The guy Butchie and the curb stomped guy roughed up is the same actor that raped Melfi.... also, the same actor that stole $ from Tny's wallet when he was shot. He really turns into other people...
