They green lit Joe for a few reasons one like you said could be that they knew about them I don't think so because they met with Marlo after the robbery I believe it was simply they knew he would kill Joe with or without they permission so why not give it to them and continue business it's like a hit on the sopranos no one said kill Joe but they both knew what didn't need to be said and they going to act surprised it happened

This should not be under looked. I can see where Formal is coming from in thinking it is a little far fetched, but the fact that the actual irl equivalent of the scene is at an even greater height makes it very easy to suspend disbelief to me.

Apprently the real Omar Little jumped off like a 5 story building but the writers thought that was even too unrealistic so they lowered it to 3 in the show

Have y'all reacted to the prequel Wire clips that were produced to promote Season 5? There's 3 of them. One is about a young Prop Joe, another about a young Omar, and the third shows the first time McNulty and Bunk meet, on McNulty's first day in Homicide.

A big part of the message of this show is that none of the street shit matters outside of the street. Cops don't even know who Avon and Stringer are in Season 1, never mind civilians. Stringer's the 3rd or 4th biggest character on the show for three seasons and when he dies, the world just goes on without a care. 22 hood dudes dead, and again no one gives a shit. Puts it in perspective.
Bonus: pic of the real Prop Joe: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fyini0WWIAEaj1g?format=jpg&name=large
He's on the left looking like Vito from Sopranos Black cousin, with the dude from Sanford and Son.

Proposition Joe, not just an important character as far as the plot line, but a legendary figure of East Baltimore, whose life had impact on the whole community over many years -- dies and gets like part of a paragraph in the paper.

Omar a superhero, he got super powers. You just gotta accept it, lol. It's funny that Omar is probably the smartest street character on the show, but walks straight into both Stringer/Avon and Marlo's traps for him. He survived the first one because of stormtrooper aim and this one because he can fly. I'm cool with it, show can't just be 100% gritty realism the whole time. It's just him and Mouzone that are in a Baltimore hood anime.
It's crazy how far McNulty and co. are willing to push this serial killer stuff. Now the mayor and the media are involved and you are falsifying wiretaps. You think Marlo gets caught and everyone just forgets your bullshit?
Clay Davis plot is best part of this season, imo. Dude is actually hilarious.

23:35 Jay Landsman's chair is the hardest working entity in all the Baltimore PD. Should be in a chair commercial, like that shit was built to last.

I was waiting to see Formal’s reaction to that Omar shit. That was hilarious. I will say besides the fact that it’s based on a true story. That there’s a reason they are making Omar’s story more “fantastical” than past seasons. I’ll just say that.

I lived in MD the last few seasons so The Wire kept going for us. If u react to 'We Own This City' u'll see the real Wire ending. Its on the Freddy Gray case aftermath. During this season Baltimore was literally so desperate for teachers they were hiring people with GEDs and you wonder why the people there are the way they are.

monk was never a "decoy" omar knew it was him, the gag was they knew omar was watching monk the whole time and they were setting up on him. but omar only accounted for the muscle he saw monk with for these past few days.

i remember telling y'all about something happening that might seem unbelievable but it really happened irl, well here we are. the real omar (donnie andrews, he was in this ep w omar) he actually jumped 6 stories but they took it down to 4 stories bc they thought no one would believe 6 lmao.
