If Stringer Bell has "no pull" then how was Stringer able to call the shot on Wallace (with Avon's knowledge) & Lil Man (without Avon's knowledge) in Season 1& Avon backed Stringer up on Stringer trying to find Wallace in front of his own nephew D'Angelo? At no point in Season 1, 2 or so far from what FRR has seen in Season 3 has Avon constantly "embarrassed" Stringer "in front of people". You literally may have just made that up as your own head cannon. Avon saying what he said to the contractors about Stringer not knowing about "gutting costs" etcetera was not a knock on Stringer, it was a knock on the CONTRACTORS because as Avon pointed out... that from Avon's perspective the Contractors "expertise" ain't up to par to where it should be because as Avon said, "y'all phucked up right, so y'all supposed to take the hit". Avon pointing out Stringer's lack of knowledge in that field is to shed light on his own lack of Knowledge in that field as well therefore if Avon's embarrassing Stringer in front of people in THAT moment then Avon's embarrassing himself as well by your logic because Avon & Stringer are EQUAL Business Partners in BARKSDALE & BELL ENTERPRISES & the contractors & the senator know it. To say that Slim Charles has more respect in the hood than Stringer Bell is an interesting comment because we haven't seen Slim Charles influence ANYONE in the hood thus far in the story whereas we've seen Stringer Bell get ALL of the major Bosses in the hood from ALL of Baltimore in the same room & stood in front of ALL of the Crew Bosses in the hood as he successfully pitched a Beneficial Organizational agreement where the entire "hood" could financially benefit. If ANY 1 of those Bosses in the hood had anything less than the utmost respect for Stringer Bell & what he presented & what his position was in the Baltimore hood, then that Co-Op meeting would've went south real quick. Lastly, to your point about Poot & Bodie calling out Stringer in those meetings, those were examples of how Poot & Bodie where lacking in their comprehension of the bigger plan. That's why the writers made a point to give Stringer the line, "y'all gotta start looking at this like some grown phuckin men & not just like some n!ggas from the corner". Bodie was respectfully trying to learn & understand whereas Poot was disrespectful while bluntly pointing a realistic viewpoint that could be perceived if Stringer's plan didn't pan out & if not for Marlo being the 1 up & coming player that he is then Avon & Stringer would have ZERO problems right now at this point in the story as it pertains to the streets. #TellemTANKseddit #TANKTheTVandMovieMaven #IETVandMovieTalk #WeJustTalkingTVandMOVIES

2023-02-25 00:06:46 +0000 UTCidk how i forgot to mention this but theres a very good podcast (if ur into them) on the wire called way down in the hole with jemele hill and van lathan. i would tell you to watch/listen as you go through the wire but they drop spoilers with no warning like crazy in the first season b4 they get that together. and there’s an official one by hbo hosted by method man for the wire’s 20th anniversary, it came out last year and it’s only 8 eps. you get more of the behind the scenes stuff it’s good. (spoilers here too if i’m remembering correctly) (sorry for the comment spam lmao)
