And while it still hurts to delay spell level progression, the blow is softened by picking spells that upcast nicely such as Tasha's Hideous Laughter. It's still a tradeoff don't get me wrong, but those points combine into it being worth it for many.

Unless I'm missing something the AC difference would be 3 rather than 1: 13 (Mage Armour) + 3 (Dex) = 16, Vs 15 (Half-plate) + 2 (Dex) +2 (Shield) = 19. The shield proficiency is the real price moreso than the armour.

I suppose the path you chose also has a higher spell save DC at lvl 5, but third level spells a level later feels painful

I’m interested to see that an armor dip (requiring 13 Wis) is better than just getting 16 in intelligence, dexterity and constitution (with criminal +1 to each and point buy) blowing a 1st level slot on mage armor and getting full wizard spell progression. Is that because an extra +1 AC and upcasting is strictly superior than getting third level spells at level 5?

Augury and Divination no longer give wrong answers on repeat casts! You mention a lot they can be used 1 per day, but you can get up to 4 true responses from each. Go Wizards!

Would you find away to squeeze in mage slayer? Just seems IMO it's a must have feat... it is legendary

The alert feat allows you to switch place in initiative with an ally. A familiar is an ally so you could switch places in initiative order with it. The invisible condition gives advantage on initiative rolls.
So the familiar rolls for initiative with advantage and you roll and then choose if you want to switch places with the familiar.

Appreciate everything you say about resource free utility - but I think sorcerer is now best class - though I don’t do cold analysis calculations like Chris

I would ask you wait until it is public. That will likely be about 2 weeks.

I did not mention this, but it's a good point.

Not sure if you mentioned it but the familiar would give you pseudo advantage on initiatives with the alert feat. If the familiar was hidden it would have the invisible condition which would grant it advantage on initiative rolls as well.

Only at the start, but I’ve been thinking that Cleric/Druid/Ranger are very interesting dips for Wizard and Rogue (AT or Thief) - and with each other for that matter.
You can even stack the bonus to Arcana checks from Divine Order and Primal order to get some crazy Arcana checks. Interestingly, DND Beyond reads the ‘or’ in the text for those abilities as being ‘and’ within the context of the sentence, so you it gives you both Arcana and Religion/Nature boosts. I suppose they use ‘or’ as identifying which Intelligence skills?
In any case, you can go Cleric/Druid/Rogue and have +13 Arcana at level 3

The “pitch” was a fantastic breakdown of how great that ritual feature is. Would I be allowed to post a clip of that to Reddit or other social media (with a pitch for your Patreon)?
Or do you ask we wait til it goes public?
