My Christmas video, early for Patrons

Ad free as always, this early release video goes over my expectations for the future of D&D, and what I see as the Winter that is coming for 5e.

Good idea but explaining it to the large number of local AL players would be a “task” I think.

So it looks like the options might turn out to be 1) buy another set of books for a new edition (to add to, let’s see - white box, Basic, AD&D, AD&D/2nd, 3.0 *, 3.5 * , 4 * , and 5,) or 2) punt RPGs (I am 70 in 2020) to stick to wargaming with friends or 3) buy only the basic core books and create my own world (3rd time) to avoid all the churn/splat books. * sadly, not ever played due to commitments like special need child, moving for job, and all that other “real world” detritus. Well, I do have another year or two most likely to cogitate about what I want to do.

Guess this is a good video fir me because it reminds me that I am a RPG person second and war gamer first. Finding a stable rule set is as much of a phenomenon in war games.

I love Treanmonk variant crunch. And pay only for WoTCs' campaigns.

Could be, but I doubt they are going to make the decision based on an anniversary. It might get some hype, but enough to shift a schedule, maybe years? My guess is it happens sooner than that, but I could be wrong.

I've seen a few others circle 2024 as the 50 year anniversary of DND and, thus, a good time to roll out a new edition. What do you think about that? Too far out?

I wouldn't worry yet. I suspect we have a year, maybe 2.

It's funny how much stress this topic brings me. :) I mean, it's not real stress but I'm so very curious to see what they do. My group continued to play 2nd edition up until a little over 2 years ago when we switched to 5th. I, personally, would want to change over when a new edition comes out but I'm not sure that's going to be the consensus with the rest of group.
