I was so excited to react to this song when I read that V directed the music video and wrote the song! He showed me a new side of him and I simply love it.
The song is like a warm cup of coffee on a brisk November morning and the video was just so..comforting! I saw a lot of speculation as to why V wrote this song (spoiler: all of the reasons I found make me want to cry lol) but whoever it was intended for is very lucky to have V in their life.
What is your interpretation of this beautiful song? It's a bit older, is it still in your song rotation? ^^

He said on Vlive the song is inspired by the proposal scene in the movie About Time. He has never related it to his grandmother specifically

2024-11-20 10:48:02 +0000 UTCI think the theory you heard about it being for Yoongi had to do with Tae's song Snow Flower, not Winter Bear, but tbh its a shipper theory mostly so don't take it seriously 💀 I'm so glad you got to check out Winter Bear though!! ♡♡♡ A lot of people say this song is like a dedication to Tae's grandmother. I've been army since 2014 and I can't remember if Tae ever confirmed that about the song but he did say "baby bear" was one of the nicknames his family called him so I can see the theory being true!!

2024-11-20 05:10:15 +0000 UTCI have never heard the theory that it was written for Yoongi, sounds like a shipper theory..haha but what I have heard the most is that Tae wrote this song about his grandma who use to also call him Winter Bear or Bear (something to that context). which makes it sound even more like it was for his grandma. But I don't know if Tae has come out to say if it was written for anyone specific. I love this song and how simple it sounds. It was not over done and V's voice was perfect.

Because his parents had to work to be able to take care of there family his grandmother raised him. He used to sleep with her that why he has like a habit to hug pillows or somebody when he sleeps. She just mean so much to him and I hate the fact people laughed at him when he told army she died and he cried on stage. Like who does that. To laugh at someone when they lost a important person to them.

However, for his grandmother, Tae released this song on the 1000th day anniversary of creating borahae, which was the very next day he told army about his grandmother in the 3rd muster. The movie "about time" is about time traveller who travel back in time to be with his dead father, which mixes up the protagonist present timeline, and he gives up going back in time and having moments with his father in order to live in the moment and protect his future, it's was a very heartwarming movie, what I took from the movie is that you need to grieve then let go to be able to actually live and be in the moment. The MV portrayed this perfectly cause he was walking backwards all the MV and the time was going back till he reached the beginning of time (the swans and big tree then cosmos colours scenes) then he looked right at the camera then walked forward in the right direction, and that scene with him in the park after the song ended was in normal speed and normal colour not in slowmo and vintage colour like the rest of the song, he moved forward

2024-11-20 04:03:15 +0000 UTCthis song always makes me so emotional! 😭 its one of my favorite taehyung songs and one of the first i listened to. i heard its about his late grandmother and he was extremely close with her. its so heartbreaking. he really made such a beautiful song and music video. also another BTS event we have coming up is RM's documentary. its coming to theatres on december 5.

She was extremely important to him, and losing her was devastating to Taehyung. He broke down crying while talking to ARMY about her on stage during a concert, and there were hate campaigns that happened afterwards where anti-fans tried to spread rumors that Taehyung was using his grandmother’s death for sympathy. This is a piece of BTS history that breaks my heart.
