This season is WAY too short, y'all! How am I supposed to go back to my day to day life without my comfort show?! I truly am having an internal panic right now but I know you guys will put me on something else to help me fill this void...right? ;o;
This episode was incredible per usual~
The boys spent a lot of time with each other and a lot of time alone as well! They went into this season saying that they wanted to show Army a different side than they showed in season 1 and I think they definitely succeeded with that. I think it really did help that they all had their own spaces to rest and recharge hehe!
What did you do when In the Soop finished? Any tips to deal with this upcoming heartbreak? LOL I know I'm being dramatic but I get very attached to things I love WAHHH

There are a few different markers, but the one to ask about a lot is “ie” at the end of their names. Example: The sentence “Jungkook runs” they would say “Jungkookie runs.” Jungkook is the noun or subject of the sentence. Sometimes they call him Jungkookie to be cute, but most of the time, that is just proper Korean grammar. This is also how Hobi got his nickname. The members would often say “Hope-ie”, but to ARMY’s ears, it sounded like they were calling him Hobi. Seokjin-ah. The “ah” is used after the name of someone who is the same age or younger that you are really close to. Seokjin is talking to himself, so he calls himself “Seokjin-ah.” You often her RM call Hobi “Hoba.”

Peachy there is so much content I've watched stuff nearly every day and I still haven't gotten caught up... and they keep dropping more! Don't be sad. There is sooo much more to enjoy!!

2024-10-27 19:38:57 +0000 UTCI recently read Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. It was a book recommended by RM and, while it is fictional, shows some of the relationship between Korea and Japan. Another BTS recommended book I recently read was The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Also extremely good book.

Let me try and answer some of your questions: About the Japan-Korea relationship: Japan was an imperialist country in the early 20th century, they wanted to control lots of east asia. In 1910, Japan took control of Korea and occupied it, to “assimilate Korea into the Japanese empire”. They banned the Korean language and Korean alphabet, and tried to forcefully make Korea Japanese. When World War Two started, Japan was allied with Nazi Germany. They committed horrible atrocities in China and Korea and other asian countries, and Korean women were forcibly used as “comfort women” (sexual slavery/prostitution). After World War Two, Korea gained independence in 1945 when Japan was defeated (and was split into North and South Korea and went through the Korean War in the 1950s). Since then, understandably there are tensions. Japan refused to properly apologise to Korea for a long time, and still teach barely anything about its past crimes in schools (as far as I know - since I’m from Germany, we learned A LOT about World War Two in school, so I was really surprised to find out Japan seems to sweep a lot under the rug.) I’ve also heard stories of Koreans experiencing racism in Japan. Still, there’s a lot of cultural exchange and obviously K-Pop is extremely popular in Japan, and anime is extremely popular in Korea, and things seem less dramatic these days (speaking as an outside observer!) About the censoring of BTS members: It was always really common for staff to put emojis or BT21 or black bars or blurring over BTS members when they yawned/accidentally showed their stomachs/armpits/nipples etc. i think it was just to protect them since they weren’t aware of what was caught on camera and didn’t want fans to see what BTS didn’t want them to see. It literally only stopped in 2024 during Are You Sure era, where we see them fully shirtless or yawning with no censoring for the first time, so you became ARMY during the right era hahaha In the soop 3: I think it’s very unlikely we’ll get a season 3, but who knows! They made this show only to replace Bon Voyage because of covid travel restrictions, so when they come back I think a Bon Voyage 5 is more likely than In the Soop 3, but I’d be equally happy about either! We’ll just have to wait and see :) Sorry for the essay, hope some of this was helpful!

As others have said, Bon Voyage is another to watch them on vacations outside of Korea. 4 seasons (In the Soop started during the pandemic when that travel was curtailed or extremely limited)…if you go this route, watching the seasons in order is good. 💜

Watch it girl. Funny things happen or important inside joke or what not. But girl love your reactions haha so real. I honestly learned to cook new dishes thanks to BTS hehe. Oh and the chicharrones yes I completely see that I I do believe a lot of Korean dishes are familiar to me b/c Mexicans be cooking igual.

The word attached after the name shows the speakers relationship and "rank"(since social hierarchie is important for Korean grammar). There are a lot, but the most common are: "ah" for close same-age or younger people (Jin talking to himself, members calling each other) "i/ie" is like ah, but cuter "hyung" guys with a close relationship but respectful to older age (BTS calling other members that are older than themselves, so mostly JK saying it) "sshi" basic politeness, when you're not close (JK calling Jimin teasingly Jimin-sshi, or when they are talking to korean interviewers) "nim" extra respectful to older people (BTS talking about bighit ceo, producers... "Bang pd-nim, manager-nim")
