I’m a labor and employment lawyer, and I can tell ya an essential feature of living in America today is that every. American. Spends. Between. 80% and 150% of their monthly income every month, with the peak of that bell curve very near 100%. I’m no different, I’m not throwing stones. but I learned one coping mechanism (hiding money from myself) early - I pretend I make less money than I do by shooting money to retirement/savings and never touching the saved money because I don’t see it reguarly. I go so far as to have separate bank accounts and shit. I share this only in hopes somebody else can benefit; my breakthrough came when I stopped fighting my nature to spend on stupid shit and to try and outsmart it. I love the podcast dudes and more guys need to talk about this shit
