New Socks Model for Flower
Added 2023-08-24 20:09:55 +0000 UTCThe left picture is the original socks model and the right picture is the new one. As you can see the knitting effect is gone, and it is more simplified and smooth. I know some of you might feel mixed about this change, but here is why I did it:
The UV of the old material caused tons of stretching issues which made it look mushy from certain angles, and it looked odd in some lighting situations. It was also unoptimized and was more taxing on my VRAM for rendering since the material had a ray traced fabric material.
I think the new socks look more stylistic, and personally I think it's cuter.

While both styles have merit, knitted wool socks are for warmth while the smooth slinky socks are for cuteness!

And even then I still have trouble making and sculpting my own stuff anyway. Not just a custom model with it's own proportions or pieces of armor or clothing. Sorry if I'm being a bother. Just wondered if you had any knowledge or advice to give

The base model was made by open pony, and you can download the base model over on their discord server: https://discord.gg/CMBqQkt8J8 Although keep in mind, it is just the base model, you will have to model a mane and tail by yourself.

I've tried using blender and I cand seem to get the right modifiers applied to be able to make the entire thing sculptable. Even the Boolean modifier when applying it to the entire structure has issues and only seems to apply to the first part I selected despite being all one thing now. And secondly. I ADORE this kind of clothing style more than "traditional" and "realistic" clothing. Gives it more flare and character

2023-08-24 21:46:30 +0000 UTCEveryone has to make a few changes when you don't have ILM's rendering farm for your models... I also like the brighter color. You may want to do something similar fir dearest Flower's eye color a bit. Hard to see pupils in there, and then track her vision POV...
