Maybe because of the key squish it ruins player satisfaction a little because people just enjoy doing higher numbered keys. But to me it seems there has to always be a stopping point, and skill expression is to see who can go higher without being stopped.

2024-11-11 11:40:06 +0000 UTCI think that’s fair, but it would also be fair to think we’ve swung too far towards the intensity axis. That it feels like he’s constantly having to do those things (bear form, kick, dodge) because the intensity is too high across the dungeons. Expressing those skills at certain points or in certain areas is fun and part of what you’re gesturing towards. But when it seems like every pull has multiple just kick things, a plethora of movement to dodge things, and still having to shift to bear form to deal with otherwise unmanageable things, that’s not what’s fun. Like, perfect balance can never be but the texture of dungeons (and other changes) feels very designed to force specific play patterns. As we’re seeing in MDI the coordinated teams can continue to pull big and funnel/control pulls well enough to do stupid things. Framed another way… when I’m pugging weekly keys, that there doesn’t seem to be a knob to turn pull intensity down seems problematic to me. Like I can ratchet it up with some double pulls, but the floor between the average single pack pull this season vs previous seasons feels much higher. I don’t think the original RLP would feel out of place amongst the dungeons this season which is crazy to me.

The challenge, the learning curve, the attempt at perfection is the fun of every competitive video game, not just the completion. The difficulty should be an additive of all challenges, not impossibility, not solely the timer, and not solely the intensity of mechanics, but all of them.

2024-11-10 19:46:29 +0000 UTCIn reference to the State of M+ Pod, where Dorki says “I want to play the game… not dodge shit and go into bear form, worry about kicks every pull”. But to me, this is the game. Mythic + would be incredibly dull if it was just one big target dummy and the whole contest was beat a damage meter. These classes have upwards of 30 different buttons to press, and high end Mythic + should make you press every single one of those buttons nearly off cooldown. As the StarCraft dude said, games are just problems, as an M+er we gotta solve the problem with everything in our toolbox.

2024-11-10 19:27:19 +0000 UTCbonus episode is awesome but people please don't abuse diphenhydramine (benadryl etc) - long term use has been shown to cause dementia, confusion and worst of all consipation as a short term remedy it's ok but if you're long term having trouble sleeping then a lot of supplementation can be dangerous. See a REAL doctor about it as there are a lot of very low risk and healthy remedies out there
