We didn't!! I'm so sad we didn't recognize him!

I don’t think you guys realized it. Grant “ The Bad Guy” was played by Robert Shaw. The captain from Jaws.

I saw "On Her Majesty Secret Service" in a theater first. Then I saw quite a few more that way but definitely not all. I have finally seen all of them completely (instead of chopped down for television) thanks to a Blu-ray collection I bought several years ago. I am still working on reading the novels but should eventually get to them all once I retire. :)

"From Russia With Love" begins the Bond movie songs. Every Bond movie will get a theme song from now on with one of the great classics next: Goldfinger. Most of the early movies had a song that shared the name of the movie and were usually written by the film's composer. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" has a second theme song that was the better of the two. Secondary songs were not unusual but you didn't expect them to be so much better than the titular songs. Finally "The Spy Who Loved Me" broke away with a big hit song that wasn't named after the movie. But it wasn't until the Craig run that the songs consistently stopped following the movie name. Finally "No Time to Die" returned to sharing the movie name as Finneas and Billie Eilish were able to make the words work perfectly for a song.

This is an Excellent Bond movie. I also think Connery plays the role with the right veneer of sophistication but scratch the surface and he's stone cold. A lot of Bond movies are just awful so treasure these few where he's just the coolest character ever. The scenes do look very real. One aspect of the glamour of Bond was the travel to exotic locations. Much of this movie was filmed in Istanbul. Bond quips that one of their aircraft is missing. The reference is to a British film, "One of Our Aircraft Is Missing" by Powell and Pressburger, a classic film director pair.

I'm so old... ("How old are you?) I'm so old I saw Bond movies in theaters! 🤣 I've seen them all, multiple times, and I think I saw my first on TV broadcast in the mid-70's. I did always prefer Connery, until Daniel Craig. (I know! Hot Take!) This preference of mine tends to rile up many fans🤣. But I am simply counting down the films until you get to the last five of 25... The "Craig era".

About to start this, very excited. Also, I wonder if you guys will recognize the actor playing the Spectre agent "Grant" as the actor that played Quint in "Jaws", Robert Shaw.

Awww man, the music, the intro, the dry wit ... it's just a feast for the eyes and ears. And yes the intros made the movies popular beyond belief.
