Since this seems to be your introduction to the ninja clan known as “the Hand” a fun bit of trivia is that them, and all the ninja themes in the daredevil comics of the early 80’s were a major inspiration for Eastman and Laird in the conception of a certain group of pizza loving, sewer dwelling, ninjas, and their antagonists "the Foot".

I really enjoyed that re-watch. As much as I love this movie. I don't watch it very often. When it came out, some of its filmic (wow, spellcheck still doesn't recognize that word) qualities were dated even for 2005 standards: The low-frame-rate shots, the over-the-top score at certain points, some of the quick-cut ideas for the action sequences, etc. (I don't mention the CGI, because that's never something I hold against an older movie from a period in which they were still figuring out how to utilize it).
I still love this movie. It managed to find a great balance between who she is as a character, and the need to make a likeable protagonist for a 2000's-era comic book movie. Some of her stories can actually be quite dark and borderline depressing when you think about them. She's one of these comic book characters that work so well as a part of other characters' stories, or in ensemble pieces; but on her own, it's probably really difficult to get mainstream audiences to latch onto her.
I would compare her to the MCU interpretation of Nebula. Not many people would be crazy about a Nebula-centric film (I, of course, would love it, because she's my favorite character in the MCU), but with the tone that has been set for those films, I think her story plays better as a depth-building background element. I mean, think about it from an executive's standpoint. "So, we've got this idea for a big-budget comic book movie about Nebula. We want to make it about someone who has experienced absolutely horrifying child abuse!!!!! YAAAAAAAAY!".
Basically, there are many manifestations of Elektra in comics, just like any other character. There's some super-goofy stuff with Deadpool, and there's dead-serious stuff with Daredevil.

Jennifer Garner grew up in my hometown! We were both there for a little while, and I often wonder if I ever ran into her as a kid. Probably not, but Charleston, WV is not a big city, so it's entirely possible. She still visits family there, and dragged Ben Affleck there when they were married, hahaha. I wonder what Ben thought of "Tudor's Biscuit World."
I've seen Daredevil, but never Elektra. Maybe it's time to change that!

That singular shot of her staring at Abby after blocking all of her attacks is engraved into my memory. Can't wait to watch this!
