We're doing something a bit different today and watching a new movie with you all! Everyone has been talking about how much they like Sinners, so we thought we'd jump right in and join the fun... and yeah, we loved this movie!

2025-06-20 21:23:59 +0000 UTCA lot of people seem thrown off by the vampire mythos in this story being different in a few important ways from the standard. The vampires aren't inherently evil or "controlled" by Remmick. Remmick is evil because he's so obsessed with trying to reclaim a piece of his stolen culture that he's willing to -vampirize- another community. He sees the beautiful gift that Sammie can provide and has to have it for himself. When Remmick turns someone the reason they seemingly embrace his views so quickly is that they now have access to his memories, if you're suddenly inundated with hundreds and hundreds of years worth of memories they are going to impact how you see the world and what your goals are. The stronger your individual personality is the more you retain your own ego instead of being subsumed by Remmick's, that's why Stack and Mary are still themselves (but still influenced by his memories) instead of being more mindless like some of the others. Once Remmick is gone they are basically totally themselves (though obviously changed by their experience and new state of being) which is why they acted the way they did in the mid-credit scene.
