Happy Thursday ❤️ We're almost at the end of the week... and what better way to celebrate than with The Avengers!
I have been so excited to see this movie. I love all the characters we've met, so finally getting to see them work together was so satisfying! It's just getting me even more excited for the next phase of Marvel movies. EEeeee I'm loving this journey through the Marvel universe so much!

Ooooh!! I didn't recognize her!

Chandra

Oooo that's so cool! But Death isn't in the MCU movies? Is she in a comic series then?

Chandra

Haha not at all! If I can make time, you bet I will!

Chandra

Oooo thank you for this!! I'm going to check it out for sure... I think reading it before watching the show could be fun, because then I might pick up on more fun details!

Chandra

Please watch Agents of Shield! such a good TV series ! Also prime time to start the old TV series with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc

I'm not a huge fan of this one, but it definitely has one of my favorite examples of delayed payoff in the MCU.

You mentioned looking for comic recommendations and were disappointed to not get more Hawkeye, in which case I definitely recommend one of my favorite comic series: The 2012 Hawkeye series by Matt Fraction and David Aja which ran for about 22 issues. It's widely considered Hawkeye's definitive comic run, and should be super easy to pick up as a collected edition all in one book nowadays. One thing to note though, is that there is an MCU show very loosely based on that run, so you'd need to decided if reading that before getting to the show is something you'd want or not.

What a fantastic movie. The movies just keep getting better and better from here. And RIP Agent Coulson. Just a suggestion, but you should really start watching Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. after Iron Man 3. You'll learn more about Coulson's past there. I know I'm probably annoying you with this, but it's definitely worth watching this series.

I completely agree. It's only the best marvel show ever. I once gave her a list showing the order in which she should watch the series between the movies.

If interested in more Marvel specifically S.H.I.E.L.D stuff I’d recommend watching Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series really good imo

So the end scene guy is Thanos who comes into play much later. "To challenge them is to court death" is a double entendre (No spoiler here) but a story line the movies threw out was that Thanos' primary motivation for what he does later is that he's trying to impress a female character called Death.

It comes from book keeping. A ledger is where you'd keep track of all your business transactions. You'd use black ink to signify income and red to signify debts or payments, so being "in the red" or "having red in your ledger" basically means you're in debt.

Simone's Coconut Squire

This was soo fun. There are tons of little Easter eggs that when you go back and watch after seeing the whole picture. Oh ya, they mentioned that in Avengers in 2012. 😆 Thanks to you and Jordan for watching this stuff with us. MCU, BCS, True Detective, and DUNE 2 next week! Aaah, so much good stuff!

Great reaction. Next up is Iron Man 3

Just a couple more things to point out - When Nick recruited Cap, Cap mentioned how when he woke up people told him "we won" but nobody told him what they lost. First thing Cap tells Tony when he wakes up: "We won". Last thing, the waitress at the end that says "Captain America saved my life" was Ashley Johnson who voiced Ellie in The Last of Us games and played Ellie's mom in the show.

"Red in my ledger" means basically "blood on my hands". She's killed people that she regrets killing and wants to make amends any way she can. It goes back to what Loki was saying Braton told him about her.

Fun fact, Robert Downey Jr hid snacks all over the set so when you see him eating in a scene, most likely he actually hid it somewhere 😆
