Dune (runtime 2:35:26) - Patreon Version

DUUUUUNE! ☀️🤺
That's right, it's time for one of the most incredible Sci-fi movies I've ever seen. I can't even begin to tell you how much we both loved this movie. And don't worry, you won't have to wait long for part 2 either... It will be posted next Tuesday! Because you bet your butts we couldn't wait to watch it haha.

What a rip off, I take your word that you were reacting to Dune as no image shown OR dialogue I knew I should have joined for just monthly and not the year.£60 odd conned out of my account.

N.T. Stars

Dune has a rich and enticing history. NO SPOILERS, only the backstory that’s provided as baseline facts. The book Dune, # 23 of 28 books, occurs on the date 10,191. The first book, Dune: the Butlerian Jihad, occurs at the year -200 on this calendar. The initial precursor books lay the groundwork for the religious anathema of using thinking machines (i.e. computers, AI) as well as the Titans (human mind canisters implanted on machine bodies). Instead of latching onto the capabilities of advanced technologies of computers, mankind is forced to develop alternate human advancements to combat the tyranny of the Thinking Machines. The development of humanity includes the Sisters of the Benegerit with their psychological powers. Mentats develop to replace the computational abilities of a computer. The Guild Navigators develop the ability to bend route distances, replacing the risk to using advanced starship engines without the risk of hitting a planet or star. Even warriors, such as Duncan Idaho, are trained as no other warrior by the Ginaz Swordmasters to dispatch thinking machine warrior robots. Lastly, the ancestor of Paul Atreides’ family line appears in the very first books, as the biological son of the Titan Agamemnon, and trustee of the Thinking Machine Overlord, Omnius. I hope this fills in some of the blanks on why their technologies appear to blend anachronistic and modern technologies. I highly recommend reading the three initial books, the Butlerian Jihad, the Machine Crusade, and the Battle for Corin. Then I jumped to the House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corino books (#13, 14 , and 16). Corino is the line of the Padishah Emperor. Everything in between is equally fascinating, but these 6 books captured what I was most looking for in the world of Dune.

Aha! I was wondering which came first... There are a lot of very very close similarities haha.

Robert Jordan was heavily inspired by Dune when creating the wheel of time. :) It's one of my favourite book series ever, but in some places it almost seems copy and paste from dune. lol

Michael Short

Ooo that's cool!

Chandra

So good. Yeah, that's all I have to say. So good.

One of the desert shooting locations was Wadi Rum, Jordan. Several movies have been shot there, including Lawrence of Arabia and The Martian.
