It's time for a more serious movie... and one lots of you have been recommending for a long time! We both felt like the city this movie was set in could have been Gotham - so dark, damp and dangerous. We also loooove stories like this where we get to try and put clues together before the characters solve the crime. Hope you enjoy!

2025-03-20 19:24:50 +0000 UTCIt's funny that you guys mention how much the city in Se7en feels like Gotham (and it def does) bc in the newest Batman movie (the one with Robert Pattinson as Batman), director Matt Reeves took a lot of the look and feel of Gotham (and the film in general) from Se7en. Anyway, yeah, Se7en is not a "feel good" movie, but it's such a well-done tragedy that it's always been among my favorite films. And it was the movie that put David Fincher onto my Top 5 Directors list. And, actually, that's another Gotham connection, since David Fincher's style was also an influence on Christopher Nolan, an influence you can see in many of Nolan's films, including his Batman series. So, although David Fincher has never actually made a Batman movie, his style has had a big impact on the look and feel of Gotham in modern Batman movies.
