Iron Man (runtime 2:06:01) - Patreon Version

Happy Thursday everyone!
I've been wanting to watch the Marvel movies for some time now, so I figured while we're doing these bonus Thursday movies it would be a good time! I'm going to start with the first collection - up until Avengers, and then maybe take a little break to watch something else with all of you, or continue on the Marvel path. Either way, I hope you'll join me for this super exciting journey into comic book movies!!

Heck yeah! So stoked you're here with me ❤️❤️❤️

Chandra

Just subscribed to watch your journey through the MCU - Looking forward to this adventure with you!

The Dingo

This is so amazing, thank you!! It makes me so happy you're a huge fan, cuz so far I am too! Haha

Chandra

Oh wow, that's wild!

Chandra

Okay, something I thought of days later because my brain's dumb (LOL), the partnership with Burger King had deeper meaning for RDJ. While at surface level, sure, it helped sell toys BUT years ago when RDJ was struggling with drug abuse, he says he ate a Burger King cheeseburger that was so disgusting it caused him to rethink his whole life. To this day, he credits Burger King with helping him get clean.

Hey it's me again. I've been working on a much better list. It includes all the regular MCU movies and series, plus Agents of SHIELD and other movies and series that were added to the canon later, as well as a few one-shots that are little addition to the MCU. Of course you don't have to watch it all if it's too much for you. It's just that im a huge Marvel fan. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Vx3U4suayFhxarj0JrA6cBMFzSGpVUVM9kl1jQ63_xo/edit?gid=0#gid=0

David Fürstenberg

This is great, thank you so much!

Chandra

Ok here is the list. The movies are still in release order with AoS episodes inbetween: Iron Man 3 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S1E1 - S1E7 Thor: The dark World Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S5E19 - S5E22 Ant-Man and the Wasp Captain Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6E1-S7E13 Avengers: Endgame

David Fürstenberg

He'd love that!

Chandra

Oh interesting! I hadn't even considered watching the Marvel tv shows ... That would be fun though! If it's an easy list for you, then I'd love that! But don't stress over it :)

Chandra

Be that as it may, I hope he joins you for some of the top tier movies of the series and important milestones.

Thomas Yanez

It looks just like it!!

Chandra

Haha In his defence, he tried... I just had no interest in movies then! So really I'm the poopoo head lol

Chandra

If you like Agent Coulson, I recommend watching the series Agents of Shield. It has 7 seasons and it used to be part of the MCU, but unfortunately it isn't anymore. The show would start after Iron Man 3 and even has small connections to the films. I could give you a list of how you should watch the series between the films.

David Fürstenberg

Oh yeah, it floats and glows in different colors too! Google 'B0D9D49RM9'

Hans Engelen

Of course you can't forget the Sony franchises that saved Marvel, and I shouldn't have qualified "pre-MCU" as much as just "Marvel" but they came after "Blade" proved the model could work, even with a relatively unknown character.

Thomas Yanez

Great! It's pretty straightforward til the Disney Plus shows start but that's a long while away!

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man, let's not play faves lol

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Hugh Hefner lol When Tony arrives at the party. "Look good, Hef." But it's Stan 😆

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

What?! That's so awesome!

Chandra

Jordan's guiding me! He's seen them, so he knows which ones to watch when. Thank you for the offer though!!

Chandra

Hahaha we were all thinking it!!

Chandra

Aww I'm so excited to be watching these with you too!! ❤️

Chandra

I'll keep my eyes peeled in the next movies!

Chandra

That makes sense! With all the movies out now, I initially thought I should watch Iron Man 1, then Iron Man 2 and 3 right away, but I know now that's very wrong haha.

Chandra

Yes, I've heard! I missed him in this one though!

Chandra

other people may have mentioned this, but don't forget to play "spot the Stan Lee cameo". He appears in every marvel project (until he unfortunately passed in 2018). He kind of created marvel comics. In this film at around 1:08:16 as a guest at the party.

eladrin22

A bit harsh, also she seems pretty excited for it so I am all in because that means better reactions.

Hans Engelen

As for the watch order - I am not sure what you mean by "it's not what you'd expect it to be". On your first watch of the MCU, there is only one watch order - and that is in the order the movies were released. Any other order means spoilers and missing the continuity created by the mid- and post-credit scenes.

Thomas Yanez

Thank you for acknowledging the first part of the end credits themselves... the MCU movies have a lot of recurring things, like the post-credit scenes, but few reactors seem to notice effort that was put into the ending credits themselves for many of the movies.

Thomas Yanez

Yessir!

Derwin Riley

I have been waiting for you guys to start these! Such great content! Thanks!

Derwin Riley

Chandra, glad you knew about the end credits. Every Marvel MCU movie, and many of the TV episodes for MCU series that come later, have 1 or more mid/end credits scenes. Basically, it’s never “safe” to skip the credits if you want to avoid internet wrath. 😎 Also, there is a reoccurring cameo from one of Marvel’s founders, Stan Lee, in every MCU movie (until shortly after his passing though he had filmed some of those ahead of time which then were seen posthumously). In this film, he was the man Stark called “Hef” (a cheeky portrayal of Hugh Hefner) as he arrived at the benefit before dancing with Pepper. Basically, it’s like Where’s Waldo and again, the internet often gets testy when reactors don’t acknowledge it so just a heads up.

Ian Forbes

Oh man. I am looking forward to this. Some are really good, some are OK. I don't think I find any of them terrible. Enjoy these! Thanks for starting this journey with us. It can seem daunting with the sheer amount of stuff. IMO, don't worry about the "timeline" viewing. Just go by release date and if you dig it maybe look at the TV series' associated with them. EDIT AFTER WATCHING: Great reaction. For me this is going to be particularly fun. I've watched alot of reactors do the MCU. Most have not really any comic book knowledge, which is fun. Watching with you, Chandra, is going to be unique, as you haven't seen these and maybe don't know the characters a whole lot, yet you still know the comic book tropes and over the top-ness that comes with the stories and arent totally confused or blind sided. Thanks! PS. Hadn't seen this in a while. Pepper and Stark really did love each other from the absolute start. 😢 PPS. Little thing to watch out for. Stan Lee, the legendary Marvel creator has a cameo in most of these if not all. He's the old guy who Tony calls Hef. (Hugh Hefner))

Ian A

Dang, I wish we'd known you were planning this so that we could have pushed "Blade" first... one of the few pre-MCU Marvel movies that weren't utter crap (and was considered a financial success at release) and lit the fire that eventually became the MCU, once they stopped dicking around and once again (after "Blade") committed to making movies that respected the material AND the audience. Edit : also, Jordan is a poopoo head for not starting this journey with. Harry Potter I can forgive, but not the MCU! 😀

Thomas Yanez

Okay Guys, last thought of the day. The end of IRON MAN set up all of the geek world for something special. 50 years of MARVEL was set to explode. You've watched a match being lit. I know you love DC, but this was like FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING. Strap yourself in! You are about to be transported into a new realm of comic goodness.

packersamurai

I wish I could chat you and Jordan up for 5 minutes to give you both back story, and trivia. This humble movie launched the MCU after MANY failed movies and TV shows in the 1980s and 90s. Lightning in a bottle!

packersamurai

Okay, Chandra. Poopoo! You said OPERATION seconds before it was said. This isn't fair to all of the geeks across the planet. You're bringing the thunder!

packersamurai

Oh hell yeah, love this!!!

Alex Ocean

Everyone does (mediocre) Marvel… try something different.

lee - ber nool

Excited for this!

Ian Forbes

good idea Did I mention I have Tony's Arc Reactor at my office?

Hans Engelen

Do you have a Marvel Timeline or would you like me to send one?

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Heck yeah bring on the Marvel love!!
