National Lampoon's Vacation (runtime 1:38:18) - Patreon Version

Hi! And welcome to another December, Thursday movie!
This one was an absolute riot! It's one of those movies that made my cheeks hurt from laughing so much. The characters are so ridiculous, and the jokes really landed for both of us. I hope you have as much fun watching this as we did!

The girl driving the red Ferrari, the one you thought looked like a model, was actually Christie Brinkley. She was probably the most photographed model of the 80’s and 90’s. Your reaction to these classic 80’s films, once again, was very entertaining.

All good! Just shows how well you know our taste in movies haha

Chandra

Yeah, as soon as I put it on there, I wondered if you had, but I didn't have time to check.

Raven Dark

Thank you so much for all of these!! We actually watched Gremlins last Christmas on the channel and absolutely loved it!

Chandra

There are FOUR Murray boys!? Omg, I've gotta see that movie

Chandra

I love Fleetwood Mac!

The only Lampoon movie I like is Christmas Vacation, so I was going to highly recommend that one, but it looks like someone else mentioned it's coming next week. If that's true, yay! That's my hubby's favorite movie. I don't care for this one, but I'm glad you guys liked it, and you're right, the casting for the family is perfect. I'll put some 80's recs for you guys below, but here's a few Christmas movies I think you guys would love first. -Gremlins (huge 80s classic that might be on the list I gave you. And it's Christmas horror, so you NEED to see this) -The Santa Clause (starring Tim Allan, and yes, the misspelling in Clause is on purpose. There is a sequel, which is just as good or better) For 80s, I've pulled only small number of movies from my list: -The Goonies -The Neverending Story -Adventures in Babysitting -Dirty Dancing -Flight of the Navigator -Pretty In Pink -Sixteen Candles (please be aware of problematic elements and keep the times in mind) -Can't Buy Me Love -Police Academy (same warning as Sixteen Candles) And one more that is not on my list because I would never have thought to recommend it at the time I sent the list. Now that I think I know you guys even better, I'm going to recommend something I never, ever thought I'd recommend to a reactor, but for you guys, this fits: -Revenge of the Nerds (can't believe I'm saying that. Problematic elements galore, but trust me, you guys will enjoy it and it is fun for what it is) Can't wait for Christmas Vacation!

The guy that looked like Bill Murray? Good catch, because that was Brian Doyle-Murray. One of Bill's acting brothers. He shows up in a lot of the movies from this period with either Bill Murray or Chevy Chase (or both.) If you ever get around to seeing it, "Scrooged" has FOUR of the Murray boys in it.

I believe Christmas Vacation is coming next week and Back to School is a classic!

The theme song was by Lindsey Buckingham, from Fleetwood Mac, and to answer your question about which park it was filmed at, that's Six Flag's Magic Mountain in Southern California. The big wooden coaster was the Colossus and the looping one they were on just before they got arrested was called Revolution. It was unique in that it was one of the only coasters with a perfectly round loop, so it stands out.

Okay, I'd y'all enjoyed this, you must watch Christmas Vacation. It's the best of the franchise and this is a the perfect time to watch. 80's Comedy recommendations below. - Back to School - The Burbs - Real Genius - Gung Ho

"Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya."
